Players of the Week - Week Six

- Player of the Week

Section V Boys Lacrosse Coordinator Mike Simon in conjunction with the Connors and Ferris law firm are, once again, sponsoring recognition of noteworthy performances throughout the season.

For "Week 6" we have two players who had standout performances last week.

Offensive Player of the Week

Sam RicciSam Ricci - Victor FO Midfielder

The Victor Blue Devils are the only team in the section that is still undefeated and one of the reasons is the skill of  Sam Ricci who has been winning faceoffs all year. The Cornell University commit helped to preserve their record last week when in the game at Fairport, with seven seconds left in regulation, Sam won the faceoff and race to goal where he scored his unassisted game winner with just one second left.

Victor Head Coach Dan Stone says: "Sam thrives in competitive environments. While the stat sheet demonstrates his skill and athleticism, it is the sideline that shows the intangibles that cannot be measured numerically. Sam is always prepared mentally and personifies the "next play" mindset knowing his next opportunity to help our team is more important than what has already happened. He embraces his role as our only underclassmen captain. As a young man of few words, Sam's leadership comes by example. When he feels the need to share something with teammates or they want his opinion, they respect the value and importance of it."

Defensive Player of the Week

Jason MosherJason Mosher - Hilton Goalie

Jason Mosher had sixteen saves in two games last week. In the Rush-Henrietta game his 57% day helped the Cadets win 13-12 and his 73% day in the Churchville-Chili game helped Hilton win in overtime.

Acting Co-Coach Tim Byrnes says, "It takes a special kind of person who wants to be a lacrosse goalie and Jason is that kind of person.  Jason is always one of the first players to be in the locker room.  He comes ready to play whether it's a practice or a game.  He's a great teammate and a huge part of this team."
