Players of the Week - Week Five

- Player of the Week

Section V Boys Lacrosse Coordinator Mike Simon in conjunction with the Connors and Ferris law firm are, once again, sponsoring recognition of noteworthy performances throughout the season.

For "Week 5" we have two players who had standout performances last week.

Offensive Player of the Week

Noah GibsonNoah Gibson - Irondequoit

Noah Gibson was instrumental in the Pittsford win last week, scoring 4g-2a and later in the HF-L win with 3g-1a. The senior attackman who currently has 29g-14a in eight games was a first team all-league pick last year and will play at St Rose next year.

Irondequoit Head Coach Aaron Bottazzo says: "Noah has been the leading catalyst for the success we are finding this season. He has been an outstanding leader on and off the field and when needed he can put the team on his back and lead the way. Additionally, Noah recently reached 100 points in his career at Irondequoit during the Churchville game."

Defensive Player of the Week

Casey BernsCasey Berns - Schroeder

Casey Berns had sixteen saves in the Irondequoit game last week (67%) and then thirteen saves (59%) in the Livonia game. The sophomore goalie has made 85 saves (55%) thus far in his second year on the varsity.

Head Coach Jason Mordaci says, "Casey has been working tremendously hard this season.  He's really grown a lot as a whole player over the course of last season and this current one.  He's had multiple strong games in goal for us, and he has battled through some injuries.  What's really been great to see is Casey growing as a leader amongst our defensive unit, as well as our whole team."
