The Gananda Varsity Boys Lacrosse team has dedicated their home game on Monday, May 2nd to former Coach Mike Pane`s recovery. Aquinas Defeats Canisius

Aquinas scored the first two goals, and although the score was tied, the Little Irish never trailed in their 5-3 win over Canisius. After a 12-11 overtime win the first time the two teams played, they both came into tonight with high expectations. The first quarter was a hard fought defensive battle which had Aquinas taking 5 shots at goal and Canisius taking 4 shots. Senior Bryce Kelly had two saves shutting out the Crusaders. The quarter ended at 0-0.

Scoring when it was most important, they took their only lead with a sudden victory goal from Travis Ford with 2:11 left in the first overtime period. The Titans scored six of the last seven goals. In a close match-up Fairport defeated Webster Schroeder 4-3. The Red Raiders took their final lead with 5:01 left in fourth quarter. The game started off slowly with only one goal for each team in the first half. Schroeder scored first to take the initial lead with Matthew Montgomery assisting Conor Bollin. Their lead held for four minutes before Fairport tied the game with Spencer Bell scoring (assisted by Michael Modesti). The 1-1 tie held for sixteen minutes until well into the third quarter. The greatly anticipated contest between Victor and Pittsford was resolved, at least at this point, tonight when Victor overcame a 4-2 halftime deficit and scored seven goals in the second half to beat the Panthers 9-6. Full Story

Friday: Wayne Takes Pal-Mac 7-5

Haverling Takes One Goal Win From Livonia

Haverling defeated Livonia 15-2 the first time they faced each other this season but their game today was decidedly closer. The Rams scored the last four goals to secure a 9-8 victory. The Bulldogs were held scoreless for 26:49 with their last goal coming in the second quarter. Haverling took an earlier lead and scored the first two goals. Aquinas scored four unanswered goals to secure the lead in their 8-7 win over RH. Although the Royal Comets started off the game, leading 4-2 after the first quarter, the Little Irish came back and scored six out of seven straight goals in the second and third quarters to hold a three goal lead near the end of the third quarter. Bloomfield-Honeoye scored the first nine goals in their 16-10 win over Marcus Whitman. The Pride took control early and then slowed down in the second half and allowed Marcus Whitman to come closer. The Hawks finish their season at 13-3 with two of their three losses to Section Five Teams. Mynderse won 10-9 when Brad Sandroni scored a goal with 0:43 remaining in the first overtime period. Unlike Thursday`s game, this game took a defensive tone from the first quarter. Livonia got on the board at 7:09 of the first with a goal from Tim Lischer. Mynderse took 12 shots in the first with no luck as Justin LaDuke had 5 of his 14 for the Rams. Full Story

Spencerport scored six unanswered goals at the end of the third and beginning of the fourth to take the lead and defeat Brockport 19-14. Before the stretch, the game was tied 12-12. Spencerport scored the first goal of the game when Owen VanWie scored his unassisted goal five minutes into the game. The Blue Devils kept the game close and tied for the first quarter. Each time Spencerport scored, Brockport tied the game within one minute. Austin Manchester scored 0:27 later to tie the game 1-1. Full Story

*+Earlier this season, Webster Schroeder lost to Fairport 4-3. In the first round of sectionals, the Warriors (#5 seed) came for revenge and defeated Fairport (#4 seed) 10-9. This was the first time that Schroeder has defeated Fairport since 2008. The Red Raiders have won the last ten contests. The game was a series of runs. Schroeder controlled both the beginning and the end of the game with Fairport making a six goals run to end the second quarter. Full Story

C-C Remains Undefeated with 13-12 Win

Churchville-Chili continued their undefeated season with a 13-12 win over Brighton. The Saints took the lead late in the second although Brighton kept the game close, for the second half. Brighton held the lead twice (late first and early second quarter). Churchville-Chili scored the first three with goals from Corey Yunker, Ryan Mead and Jason Tebo. Tebo scored 4g in the game, including his 100th career goal. Brighton scored their first goal with 5:59 remaining when Brett Randall scored the first of his 5g-2a. Victor scored thirteen goals before Webster Schroeder got on the board. The Blue Devils won 21-4. They score too many unanswered goals to itemize each play. However, some stand-out performances throughout the game included: Ryan Maloney intercepting a pass between a defenseman and the goalie and scoring behind the back without breaking stride and long stick Patrick Barrow taking the ball coast and coast and scoring. Schroeder's first goal was scored with an impressive cross crease feed through traffic from Conor Bollin to Collin Griffin. Bollin finished with 2g-1a on 4 goals for the Warriors. Full Story

The Panthers kept up their scoring and, even though the Patriots scored late to make the score closer, they defeated Penfield 12-9. The Braves never led and only had the game tied twice (1-1 and 11-11). They scored when it mattered, in sudden death overtime, to secure the win. The Saints took control of the game for three quarters before the Braves fought back in the fourth. Semi: Thomas Over Irondequoit in OT

*+After a delayed start due to weather, Webster Thomas fought back from a five goal deficit (8-3) to force overtime and then defeated Irondequoit 11-10. The Titans never led and only tied the game twice (9-9 and 10-10). They took their first lead in sudden victory overtime to secure their win and move into the Finals. With the semifinals concluded, the teams are set for the 2016 Section Five Championships. Victor will play Pittsford in Class A, Thomas will play Canandaigua in Class B and Penn Yan will play Aquinas in Class C. Full Story
