Penfield Gets One Goal Win From R-H

- Of their four wins this season, Penfield has won two in overtime and one by a single goal in regulation. A goal with 0:02 remaining in regulation forced overtime and Penfield secured an 11-10 victory over Rush-Henrietta this afternoon.

Today's game saw the lead change six times and the score tied at 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9 and 10. Penfield started the scoring with Max Spaan scoring the first of his four goals (assisted by Glenn Roschetzky). Rush-Henrietta tied the game with Jake Hughes scored (assisted by Nick Lenhard) with a man-up goal. There were seven man-up goals scored during the game (four for RH and three for Pen). Curtis Raymond`s unassisted goal at 7:21 gave the Royal Comets their first lead. Each team added one goal to finish the quarter with R-H holding a one goal lead (3-2).

In the second quarter Penfield scored the first two goals to take back the lead. James Stoler and Kevin Wall each added a goal that was assisted by Carter Jordan. Jordan finished with 2g-5a for the Patriots. R-H scored one goal to end the second quarter and tie the game at halftime (4-4). They continued their scoring adding the first two goals of the third quarter to lead 6-4 with 10:43 left in the third quarter. Hughes added his second and Sam Schubach his first of 3g-1a.

R-H at Penfield

Penfield started a scoring streak at 9:09 remaining in the third quarter. Jordan scored his first goal, assisted by Wall. The Patriots added four move goals to take the game from down by two to up by three (9-6 with 1:10 remaining in the third). R-H came into the fourth looking to stay in the game and succeeded. The Royal Comets scored four unanswered goals to go back on top with 2:40 remaining in regulation. Schubach added two with TJ Day and Brad Schillinger adding one each. Three of the four goals in the set were scored during man-up. Penfield trailed into the final minutes and with 0:02 remaining on the clock, Wall scored an unassisted goal to force overtime. Both teams had goalie saves in the overtime period but two minutes into the first overtime period, Brandon Buse scored with an assist from Jordan.

In the cage for Penfield, Willie Klan recorded three saves. Face-off midfielder James Stoler led his team with five ground balls. For R-H, Colin Mix played the entire game and recorded six saves.
