NYS Quarters: Victor Defeats Hamburg
May 30, 2015 - SPORTSFIVE REPORT: Victor took the game into running time to start the third quarter on their way to a 20-8 win over Hamburg. The Bulldogs came back in the fourth quarter after the Blue Devils pulled their starters. Victor played four different goalies during the game. Starting goalie Chayse Ierlan played the opening half and had 2 recorded saves and 3 goals against. Brennan Mackey played the third quarter with 2s/2ga. Justin Young (1s/3ga) and Connor Solomon (1s/1ga) split the fourth quarter.
Thirteen players for Victor made their offensive scorebook and 25 players recorded at least one statistic. Jamie Trimboli finished with 3g-3a and was a part of the first four goals for the Blue Devils. Attackman Drew Collins finished with 4g. Face off midfielder TD Ierlan had an impressive day at 91%. Ierlan only lost two draws (both technical fouls that were caused by others). He also led his team in ground balls with 12. Midfielders Mike DeMarco and Michael Matheson added four more ground balls each.
Attackmen Jim Duffy (2g-1a) and Andrew Rettig (3g) led in scoring for the Bulldogs. Midfielder Brendan Ryan led in ground balls with four. He also finished with two takes. Between the pipes, Jordan Kuss recorded eight saves.
Victor moves on to the State Quarter Finals on Wednesday at St. John Fisher. The Section III vs IV match (JD vs. Vestal) was postponed due to weather and will be played Sunday.
