Two from Irondequoit make Tewaaraton List
February 23, 2016 - The early Tewaaraton Watch list came out today and among the top college players are two players from Section Five and both are alumni of Irondequoit.
Midfielder Greg Coholan, is a senior at Virginia led last year's team with 39g-14a. A three year starter with 61g-33a, he was a USILA honorable mention All-American and ACC Offensive Player of the Week last season. He is a two-year Captain for the Cavaliers. In January he was selected number 6 overall in the 2016 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft by the Boston Cannons. At Irondequoit, Greg was an All-Tournament Team member twice and was named a US Lacrosse Academic All American.
Senior, Nick Doktor is an attackman at the University of Pennsylvania. He starts the 2016 campaign with 56g-59a and has scored goals in his last twenty-seven games. Also a captain, he became Penn's highest draft pick when he was the eighteenth pick in the MLL draft in January and will play for the Charlotte Hounds. While at Irondequoit, Nick was a two-time US Lacrosse All-American and a three-time All Tournament pick.
Each year, the Tewaaraton Trophy honors the top male college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committee consists of top collegiate coaches which are appointed each year by the Tewaaraton Foundation.
