Fairport 4 - Schroeder 3

-  SPORTSFIVE REPORT:  In a close match-up Fairport defeated Webster Schroeder 4-3. The Red Raiders took their final lead with 5:01 left in fourth quarter. The game started off slowly with only one goal for each team in the first half. Schroeder scored first to take the initial lead with Matthew Montgomery assisting Conor Bollin. Their lead held for four minutes before Fairport tied the game with Spencer Bell scoring (assisted by Michael Modesti). The 1-1 tie held for sixteen minutes until well into the third quarter.

With 3:53 remaining in the third quarter the third goal of the game was scored by Fairport. Cameron Gebhardt scored unassisted to give the Red Raiders their first lead of the game. Schroeder tied the game less than 30 seconds into the final quarter. Montgomery scored with an assist from Jared Griffin. The game stayed tied at 2-2 for another six minutes before back to back Red Raiders goals gave them a 4-2 lead going into the final two minutes. Schroeder's Griffin scored with 1:16 left to pull the game within one; however, the Warriors could not force the game into overtime.

In the cage, Tyler Wetzel finished with 15 saves (83%) for the Red Raiders. Antonio Deleo finished at 76% (13 saves) for the Warriors. Fairport continues on to play Canandaigua on Thursday with Schroeder facing off against Hilton.
