Penn Yan Takes 10-7 Win From Fairport

NOTES: Penn Yan scored the opening goal and never trailed in their 10-7 win over Fairport. The Mustangs steadily increased their lead over the entire game. The score was only tied once (1-1 in the first). In the second quarter the closest the game got was Penn Yan leading by one (4-3). The closest score of the third quarter was 8-5 Mustangs.
Tate Stewart scored the opening goal for Penn Yan with an assist from Sean Emerson. 90 seconds later, Fairport tied the game for the only time with Cameron Gebhardt scoring off a feed from Reese Burek. The Mustangs scored three unanswered goals to take a 4-1 lead to end the quarter. Stewart added two more and Emerson added the third. Fairport kept the game close in the second quarter, but Penn Yan scored four unanswered (two to end the 2nd and two to start the 3rd) to take their largest lead 8-5. Both teams added two goals in the final quarter. Between the pipes, Tyler Wetzel finished with 12 saves for the Red Raiders. For Penn Yan, Gage Ponsetti recorded 14 saves.
