2025 Sportsfive/Section V Players of the Year
June 7, 2025 - SPORTSFIVE REPORT: The 2022 Section V Player of the year honors were announced at the end of the Section V Championship games. The winners were Mitchell Monte from Fairport, Anthony (A.J.) Theodorakakos from Penfield and Drew Williamee from Canandaigua.
Offensive Player of the Year
Mitchell Monte - Fairport Senior
Fairport senior offense specialist, Mitchell Monte was named the Offensive Player of the Year. The two-time All-Tournament Team player scored 133g-77a in his four-year career and will play for Dartmouth next year.
Coach Mike Torrelli says: "I think what also separates Mitchell from most is his ability to be a very good passer. He more than often finds the open man for an assist or next pass in our offense. His ability to shoot and pass with both his left and right hand are rare at any level and makes him that much more of a threat to defenses. He gets doubled and tripled often, fast slides always and still is able to score or create scoring opportunities for us. The expression "he makes others around him better" is exactly the type of player Mitchell is. He's worked extremely hard to get to where he is and knows there is still a lot of work ahead of him. His humble demeanor and infectious work ethic have allowed him to succeed more and more each year but also has set a standard for our entire program and community of student athletes.”
Quinn has been selected as a USA Lacrosse All-American by the coaches of Section V.
Defensive Player of the Year
Anthony (A.J.) Theodorakakos - Penfield Junior
A senior defenseman, A.J. Theodorakakos has played on the Patriot Varsity team since his freshman year and has 12g-8a, 107 gbs and 120 takes in three years. He is a first team all-league player for the last two years and is committed to service at the Military Academy at West Point after graduation.
Head Coach John Schembri says: "A.J. is the #1 ranked Defensemen in the Country for the 2026 class by Inside Lacrosse and the #4 overall recruit for the 2026 class. He was a 2024 Main Stage class of 2026 All Star Team Member and the 2024 Naptown National Challenge Most Outstanding Defender in the 2026 Class
AJ was the 2024 SweetLax Summer Showdown Defensive MVP and the 2023 ML8 Showcase class of 2026 Nike Defensive MVP.
Despite the title of being a captain he leads through example. A.J. epitomizes everything we ask of a Penfield Lacrosse Player. More than his unique skill set, his effort, physicality, work ethic, character and leadership are second to none. That is why it should be no surprise that he was selected to serve our country at the USMA at West Point after he graduates. We are blessed to have someone like A.J. as a leader in our program."
A.J. has been selected as a USA Lacrosse All-American by the coaches of Section V.
Sportsman of the Year
Drew Williamee - Canandaigua Senior
Senior attackman Drew Williamee is a four-year Varsity player for the grey Wolves, with a record of 108g-81a. The three-time All-Tournament pick was instrumental in the semifinal andf championship games this year.
Coach Deven York says is big on Drew Williamee. "When I ask my youth players who their favorite player is, they always say 6. He goes to Al the youth and modified games to cheer them on. For the face off against cancer game he dedicated it to a local family and gave his jersey to the mother. As talented as he is, he is one of the kindest, respectful players I know. He Loves to play and he honors the game. He is role model for our program."
