Penn Yan Advances to Class D Championship

- Penn Yan secured a spot in the Class D championship with a steady performance against Mynderse-Romulus, winning 19-4 in the Section V semifinal on Friday. Nine different players contributed to PY vs Mynd semiPenn Yan's scoring effort, led by Teagan Fingar with four goals and one assist, Braden Fingar with three goals and one assist, and Tukker Fisher with three goals and three assists. Miles Ditzell also added three goals, while Mike Gigliotti, Greyson Hathway, Ryder Sprague, Collin Bacher, and John Holly each found the net. Penn Yan goalie Jaxon Jensen recorded three saves with one goal allowed for a 75% save rate in 12 minutes, while freshman Wilson Oliva had a perfect save percentage with one save and no goals allowed in his 12 minutes of play.

For Mynderse-Romulus, Griffin Hilimire led the effort with one goal and one assist, while Anthony Luffman scored two goals and Jack Brady contributed one. Penn Yan controlled the faceoff battle with freshman Greyson Hathway winning 18 of 21. The team took charge early with eleven first-quarter goals and kept momentum through the second, closing the first half at 19-3 before holding defensively in the second half.
