May 27, 2025 - Wayne secured an 11-7 victory over Livonia-Avon-Geneseo in the Section V Quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday evening. The game was close through the first half, with Livonia-Avon-Geneseo leading 6-3 at one point in the second quarter. However, Wayne responded with consistent scoring, netting three goals in each of the first three quarters and adding two more in the final frame. Senior attackman Mason Michel led Wayne with four goals and one assist, while Shane Coleman contributed three goals and five assists. Tucker Eaton recorded two goals and two assists, Tas Strickland added one goal and three assists, and Nick Caine scored once. Eighth-grade goalie Gavin Hamel posted nine saves and a 56% save rate over 48 minutes.
Livonia-Avon-Geneseo started strong with Henry Walters scoring two goals in the first quarter, assisted by Rider VanZandt and Max McEnerney. VanZandt finished with three goals and two assists, while McEnerney added one goal and two assists. Will Schweitzer and Connor Duryea also contributed, with Schweitzer scoring once and Duryea providing one assist.
