Wayne Over Bloomfield-Honeoye

- Wayne hosted Bloomfield-Honeoye in a non-league matchup and overcame an early deficit to claim a 19-9 victory. Bloomfield-Honeoye started strong with four goals in the opening quarter, but Wayne responded with four of its own in the second. The game shifted in the third as Wayne added eight goals while holding Bloomfield-Honeoye to four, and then closed out the fourth quarter with six unanswered goals.

Wayne’s offense was led by Mason Michel, who recorded six goals and three assists, and Tas Strickland, who had five goals and four assists. Shane Coleman contributed five goals and one assist, while Tucker Eaton added two goals. In goal, eighth-grader Gavin Hamel made 19 saves, finishing with a 68% save rate. For Bloomfield-Honeoye, Brayden Arber led the scoring with four goals and three assists, while John Blair added two goals and two assists. Ethan Stoddard tended goal for Bloomfield-Honeoye, finishing with 14 saves.

Head Coach John Hanss secured his 25th win as head coach for Wayne, while Bloomfield-Honeoye senior John Blair reached a career milestone with his 100th assist. With postseason play approaching, Wayne earned the number 4 seed in the Class C tournament and will face number 5 seed Livonia-Avon-Geneseo, while Bloomfield-Honeoye, the number 3 seed in Class D, will take on number 6 seed Marcus Whitman.    [ Story and BOX SCORE
