
Newark Secures Victory
May 19, 2025 - Newark took control in the second half to secure a 16-3 win over Batavia-Notre Dame in a non-league matchup at VanDetta Stadium. Sam Underhill led the offense with seven goals and three assists, reaching his 50th career assist. Tristan Harris contributed four goals and two assists, while Evan Shulla added three goals and one assist. Sophomore defenseman Miguel Olivera Plain recorded his first Varsity goal. In the net, senior goalie Carter Bumpus made nine saves and allowed three goals, finishing with a 75% save rate over 48 minutes.
Batavia-Notre Dame opened the scoring with a goal in the first quarter but struggled to break through Newark’s defense in the second and third quarters. Harold Mellander provided one goal and one assist, while Trey Rodriguez and Gavynn Trippany each scored once. Junior goalie Branden Flanagan made 16 saves, allowing nine goals, earning a 64% save percentage over 36 minutes.
