
Rush-Henrietta Secures Win Over Newark
May 17, 2025 - Rush-Henrietta took control early and never looked back in its 16-2 victory over Newark on Saturday. Playing at home, the Royal Comets built an 8-0 lead in the first quarter, with Andrew Coleman leading the charge with four goals and an assist. Nine different players contributed goals for Rush-Henrietta, including Preston Jackson and Jackson Koppers, who each had two goals and one assist. Sophomore midfielder Tyler Cleveland also recorded his first varsity goal in the contest.
Newark found the net twice in the third quarter, with Sam Underhill and Evan Shulla scoring, but struggled to generate additional offense. Rush-Henrietta goalie Daniel Schmitz was solid in net, stopping all eight shots he faced for a perfect save percentage in 24 minutes of play. Junior face-off specialist Cullen Hirschman had a strong showing, winning 12 of 16 face-offs.
The game was called in the fourth quarter due to lightning, but the outcome was already decided. With the win, Rush-Henrietta improved to 6-9 on the season, while Newark fell to 4-9. Rush-Henrietta will travel to HFL on May 20th, while Newark will visit Batavia on May 19th. [ Story and BOX SCORE]
