
Waterloo Earns First Win of the Season
May 14, 2025 - Waterloo secured its first victory of the season with a 12-5 win over Batavia-Notre Dame in a non-league matchup on Wednesday evening that was a continuation of a game played earlier but halted by thunder. Waterloo built momentum early, scoring four goals in the first quarter and adding three more in the second while holding Batavia-Notre Dame scoreless in that frame. Despite a late effort from Batavia-Notre Dame in the third quarter, Waterloo finished strong with four goals in the final period.
Leading the charge for Waterloo was Caden Shangraw, who tallied four goals. Nicholas Dorn and Jaidyn Ellison each netted three, with Ellison also contributing one assist. Cameron Smith recorded one goal and three assists, while Drake Alger added one goal and one assist. In net, junior goalie Dylan Acquilano made nine saves and finished with a 64% save percentage. For Batavia-Notre Dame, scoring was spread across five players: Jon Smith, Harold Mellander, Gavynn Trippany, Trey Rodriguez, and Jeremiah Childs each had one goal. Mellander also had an assist.
