Wayne Secures Victory Over Gananda

April 24, 2025 - Wayne took control early in their FL-D1 league game against Gananda, scoring four goals in the first quarter and maintaining a steady offensive pace throughout. Mason Michel led Wayne with five goals and three assists, while Shane Coleman contributed four goals and two assists. Tas Strickland added three goals and three assists, with additional scoring from Tucker Eaton, Hank Smith, and Stone Sozio. In goal, eighth-grader Gavin Hamel made eleven saves while allowing seven goals, finishing with a 61% save percentage over forty-eight minutes.

Gananda found their stride in the second half, scoring three goals in both the third and fourth quarters, but Wayne’s early lead proved too difficult to overcome. Gananda’s top scorers included Alex Galka and Mason Groh, each with two goals, while Brody Daciw added one goal and two assists. Jase Smith and Cameron Richards also found the net. Senior Alex Galka had a strong performance in face-offs, winning seventeen and losing eight.
