
Spencerport Secures Victory Over Section VI
April 5, 2025 - Spencerport`s lacrosse team continued its strong season with an 18-4 win over Williamsville East in a non-league game on Saturday morning. Senior midfielder Zach Tortora led Spencerport with seven goals on twelve shots, followed by senior attacker Jayden Mandarano, who contributed three goals and two assists. Mandarano also reached a personal milestone, recording his one hundredth career point during the game. Additional standout performances included Patrick Keady`s three goals and one assist and Zachary Ajavananda’s two goals and one assist. Goalie Zach Miceli provided solid support, with five saves and only one goal allowed for an eighty-three percent save rate during his twelve minutes of play.
The Spencerport offense started strong, scoring seven goals in the first quarter, including three from Tortora and one from Mandarano assisted by Ajavananda. The second quarter saw balanced contributions, including Keady and Brody Kaye each finding the net, while Gavin Brown provided both a goal and an assist. Williamsville East struggled to keep pace, with their scoring limited to four goals across the game, two of which came in the second quarter from senior middies Jacob Sexton and Braden Sims, and two more in the later quarters from junior attackman Will Kowalski. Spencerport remained steady through the third and fourth quarters, rounding out their win with four goals in the third and two in the fourth.
Chase D`Amico led Spencerport on faceoffs, with nineteen wins against seven losses for a seventy-three percent success rate. The team`s overall efforts on ground balls and transitions demonstrated cohesion, setting a strong foundation for their second win of the season. Spencerport now holds a 2-0 record.
