Marcus Whitman Secures Victory

April 4, 2025 - Marcus Whitman opened their league season with a decisive 16-7 win against Gananda at R Mann Elementary on Friday evening. Tariku Blueye led the charge for Marcus Whitman with seven goals and six assists, while Ayden Clark added six goals and one assist. Freshmen Connor Cameron and Fischer Sleeman contributed their first varsity goals. Junior goalie Tyler Speers played solidly, saving 10 shots and allowing seven goals for a 59% save percentage over 48 minutes.

Gananda, now at 1-2 on the season, was powered by Brody Daciw`s three goals and one assist, alongside Mason Groh`s one goal and three assists. Senior Jase Smith reached an impressive career milestone, scoring three goals to reach his 50th varsity goal. Senior Alex Galka excelled at faceoffs, winning 58% (15 wins, 11 losses).

Gananda will next host East United-Eastridge on Saturday, while Marcus Whitman travels to Waterloo on Tuesday for their second game of the season.    [ Story and BOX SCORE]
