Looking to 2025 with Confidence and Talent

As the 2025 season approaches, the Irondequoit Boys Lacrosse team is gearing up for another exciting year in Class B. The team is coming off a successful 2024 season, finishing with an impressive 15-4 record. Despite the loss of six key seniors, the team is optimistic about their prospects, thanks to a strong core of returning players and a solid coaching staff.

2024 Season Recap

Irondequoit excelled in close matches last year, with 14 games decided by a margin of five goals or fewer. IrondequoitThe team demonstrated resilience and determination, winning five games by a single goal. Their offense was powerful, scoring a total of 190 goals, while the defense held strong, conceding only 114 goals.

The departure of seniors Jonah Carrier, Owen Donovan, Oliver Grisdale, Drew Kogler, Cam Miller, and Jordan Nolan leaves a significant void. Carrier, an All-American and multiple award winner, led the team with 40 goals and 17 assists. He also committed to Maryland and won 78% of his face-offs last year, finishing his high school career with an impressive record of 670 wins to 228 losses (75%). Grisdale also made valuable contributions with 17 goals and 10 assists. The defense will miss Miller and Nolan, both of whom earned league honors.

Key Returnees and Rising Stars

Despite the loss of key seniors, Irondequoit returns a talented group of players who are ready to step up. Leading the charge is junior Cooper Moore, who tallied an impressive 59 goals and 18 assists last season. Moore, who has committed to the US Military Academy, is expected to be a key offensive threat.Irondequoit

Senior goalkeeper Sven Habitzreuther, who recorded 164 saves with a 60.5% save percentage, will anchor the defense. Taiden Makubire and Alex Sherman, both All-League honorees, will strengthen the defensive unit. Midfielders Cam Freeman and Sam Thore will provide valuable support on both ends of the field.

Coaching and Leadership

Head Coach Aaron Bottazzo enters his sixth season with a 48-24 win-loss record. An Irondequoit alumnus, Bottazzo's deep connection to the program and community is evident. His leadership and strategic acumen will be crucial as the team navigates the new season.

With 11 rising seniors and a balanced mix of juniors and sophomores, Irondequoit is well-positioned for another competitive season. The team retains 68% of its goals and 73% of its assists from last year, ensuring that the offensive firepower remains strong. The defense, led by experienced players, aims to maintain its impressive average of 6.0 goals against per game.

As the new season approaches, the Irondequoit Boys Lacrosse team is ready to showcase their talent, determination, and unyielding spirit. With a strong foundation and the guidance of Coach Bottazzo, the Eagles are poised for another successful year.
