Brandon Barker Commits to Ohio State

- Greg WeylPittsford rising junior, Brandon Barker recently announced his verbal commitment to study and play at the Ohio State University after graduation in 2015.

The six-foot-one, two hundred pound midfielder scored 30g-11a last year and was named to the Class A All-Tournament team as the Panthers (14-4) made the semifinal round of the the tournament.

Off season, Barker played for the UpState NY team in the Under Armour Underclassman tournament. This summer he attended the Showtime Camp and played for the SweetLax Club in the King of the Hill and MPV Tournaments.

Fifth year Head Coach Nick Meyers led the Buckeyes to the NCAA quarter finals last season where they fell to Cornell. Penn Yan graduate Adam Trombley is a rising senior and will miss playing with Barker, but a number of other Section Five players have committed to play at Ohio State. They include Luc Bailey (McQuaid, 2013), Trevor Hodgins (Churchville-Chili, 2014) and Willie Klan (Schroeder, 2015).

Barker also considered Syracuse, Loyola, Towson, Maryland, Fairfield, Georgetown and Michigan.
