Players of the Week - Group 1
April 5, 2022 -
Section V Boys Lacrosse Coordinator Mike Simon in conjunction with the Connors and Ferris law firm are, once again, sponsoring recognition of noteworthy performances throughout the season.
For "Group 1" we have two players who had standout performances last week.
Defensive Player of the Week
Jack Faiola - Canandaigua
Jack Faiola had two 75% save games to help give Canandaigua a 2-0 season. In the Webster Schroeder game the Hobart commit had nine saves and then on Saturday he had six saves as the Braves beat Geneva.
Head Coach Deven York says: "Jack is a tremendous leader for us. He has worked hard in the off season to become the goalkeeper he is. He communicates, is coachable and saves shots that shouldn't be saved. Jack gives our defensive group a ton of confidence and helps me sleep better at night. "
Offensive Player of the Week
Quinn Nolan - Pal-Mac
Pal-Mac senior midfielder Quinn Nolan has started his fifth year on the varsity with a bang. In the season opener against Churchville-Chili the St Bonaventure committed senior scored 4g-2a 14gbs and won 17 of 18 (94%) faceoffs. In the 8-7 win over Livonia-Avon he scored 2g-1a and won 16 or 17 (94%) faceoffs.
Head Coach Joe Hills says, "Quinn has played Varsity since his 8th grade year. His success is a result of his incredible work ethic and a need to perfect his craft. He is not the average face off player that leaves the game after a win, he is also a skilled midfielder who enjoys all aspects of the game."
