Marcus Whitman Holds Strong in OT

- Marcus Whitman held off a late push by Bloomfield-Honeoye to defeat the Pride 12-11 in the first overtime period.  The Wildcats had a six goals stretch to the end the third and start the fourth quarter.  The streak took them to a three goal lead with just under six minutes remaining in regulation.  The Pride fought back and scored three goals of their own before regulation expired.  However, it was Kyle Murphy who scored the game winning goal for the Wildcats in overtime.

Marcus Whitman opened the scoring with Seth Benedict assisting Luke McCrobie four minutes into the game.  The Pride responded with back to back goals from Trevor Farrell to take their first lead of the game.  Farrell’s goal were scored 21 seconds apart.  Marcus Whitman responded with three goals of their own to re-take the lead after only trailing for less than one minute.  Ryan Herod, Connor Tomion and Benedict scored for the Wildcats.  Not to be left behind, Bloomfield-Honeoye scored two more goals to finish out the opening quarter tied at 4-4.

The Pride kept their momentum going into the second quarter with back to back goals.  Max Willix and Devin Campbell scored.  Marcus Whitman scored their only goal of the second quarter with 6:11 on the clock (Tomion unassisted).  The Pride added one more before the half and led 7-5 going into the break.

Bloomfield-Honeoye scored again to open the third with George Willix scoring off a feed from Alex Roach.  That was the last Pride goal for 15 minutes.  Marcus Whitman scored five to finish the third quarter as well as the opener of the fourth.  Benedict scored three of the six goals for the Widlcats.  The final goal, to set up the three goal lead, was scored by Benedict off a feed from Herod.  The Pride refused to give up and scored three unassisted goals to finish out regulation: Roach, G. Willix, Campbell.  Murphy’s game winning goal was scored with 0:25 left on the clock.
