Vacation week is over and the teams of Section Five were ready to play today as twenty-eight teams suited up. There were many lop-sided games among the mix including shutouts for Mynderse (11-0 over Midlakes) and Churchville-Chili (15-0 over Eastridge). There were close ones as well as Wayne defeated Newark with a goal in the last six seconds of the game. The Greece Lightning (Arc/Oly) used six different offensive players in their 8-5 win over Gates Chili. Webster Thomas outscored Hilton 4-1 in the third quarter and that may all the difference in their 12-9 win. Section Four powerhouse, Ithaca came to town tonight and defeated Irondequoit 15-8.
We received a very nice report tonight about exemplary sportsmanship displayed by the Batavia coaches, players and fan in their tough loss to Livonia. It was reported that play on the field was sportsmanlike and that families leaving the field together did so with friendliness and respect for the players and the game. Well done Batavia and Livonia.
