Tournaments: Around the State

May 31, 2013 -

  Section 6 - Champions were Orchard Park (Class A), Hamburg (Class B) and Silver Creek (Class C). OP beat Clarence 14-5, Hamburg defeated Niagara Wheatfield 18-7 and Silver Creek was the winner over Akron 17-12. The Section 6 Champions will play the Section Five Champions on Saturday, June 1st at St. John Fisher College.

Section 3 - Champions were West Genesee (Class A), Jamesville-DeWitt (B) and Cazenovia (C). Genny beat Fayetteville-Manlius 6-5 in two overtimes. J-D defeated Carthage 23-9 and Caz beat LaFayette 15-9.

The Section 3 Class B and Class C teams played out bracket games with the Champions from Section 10. J-D beat Massena 22-2 and Cazenovia beat Salmon River 12-8. The Section 3 Champions will move on to play the Section 4 champions on Saturday.

Section 4 - Champion were Ithaca (A), Vestal (B) and Johnson City (C). Ithaca beat Corning 16-8, Vestal defeated Horseheads 16-4 and Johnson City beat Maine-Endwell 12-11. The Section 4 Champions will play the Section 3 Champions on Saturday.

Section 10 Salmon River beat St. Lawrence 15-8 to win the Class C Championship. Massena was declared an uncontested champion in Class B. They played the winners of the Section 3 tournaments and lost in the out bracket games.

And Farther east and south

In Section 8 (Long Island - Nassau) - Champions were Massapequa (A), Garden City (B) and Friends Academy (C). Massapequa beat Port Washington 16-3, Garden City defeated Manhasset 10-4 and Friends Academy beat Cold Spring Harbor 9-4. The winners will play against the Section 11 (Long Island Suffolk) Champions.

In Section 11 - Champions were Ward Melville (A), Miller Place (B) and Shoreham-Wading River. Ward Melville defeated Smithtown West 11-6, Miller Place beat Huntington 5-4 and S-WR defeated Bayport-Blue Point 18-6. Section 11 Champions will play the Section 8 Champions on Saturday.

Section 1 - Champions were Mamaroneck (Class A), Yorktown (B) and Bronxville (C). Mamaroneck beat North Rockland 7-4, Yorktown beat John Jay-Cross River 17-3 and Bronxville defeated Pleasantville 15-9.

Mamaroneck played an out bracket game with Shenendehowa and Shen won and will advance. Yorktown played Niskayuna but lost and Nisky will advance. In Class C, Bronxville defeated Glens Falls 20-3 and will advance to the quarter finals.

Section 2 - Champions were Shenendehowa (A), Niskayuna (B) and Glens Falls (C). Shen beat Shaker 18-10, Nisky, who is currently undefeated at 19-0, beat Ballston Spa 20-4 and Glens Falls defeated Schuylerville 13-10. The Section 2 Champions played the Section 1 Champions in out bracket. Nisky and Shen won and will advance to the quarter final round where they will play the Champions from Section 9 on Saturday.

Section 9 - Champions were Minisink (A), Cornwall (B) and Red Hook (C). Minisink defeated Warwick Valley 10-7, Cornwall beat Wallkill 15-8 and Red Hook beat Roundout 7-5. The Section 9 Champions will play the winners of the Section 1 vs Section 2 out bracket games.
