We Lose Bruce Teague, Senior

Bruce Teague SeniorUpdated   Section Five Lacrosse lost a great supporter and friend today with the passing of life-long lacrosse enthusiast, Bruce R. Teague, Senior. Bruce played lacrosse at Geneva High School, graduating in 1967 and was named to the 1st team All-Upstate lacrosse team in his senior year. He was a team captain in that year and received Geneva's Covert Award.

After high school he attended Cornell University, earned three letters and won the Ivy League Championship in each of those years. He was selected as the Most Improved Player in his junior year and won the Phillips Award in his senior year. It was in his senior year that Cornell won their first NCAA Championship. Bruce finished his collegiate career as a player in the North/South All-Star Game.

For over thirty-five years he was a collegiate and high school official. Bruce was a founding member of the National Intercollegiate Lacrosse Officials Association. Officiating highlights included NCAA Division III finals, NCAA Division-I semi-finals and New York State High School Championships.

In recognition of his great contributions, he was elected to the Geneva Sports Hall of Fame in 1996 and into the Rochester Chapter of US Lacrosse in 2006.

He and his wife, Beryl Mulvey Teague have three grown children, including Bruce Teague Junior, who is the current Head Coach at Marcus Whitman High School. Bruce Senior spent several years on the Wildcat sideline with his son.
