Fall Recruitment Updates

- - The list of verbals from Section Five for next year stands at twenty-three, with more to follow before the end of the year. The "Recruitment List" still shows both last year's graduates as well as commitments from the classes of 2012 and 2013.


Miller to West Point and Zawacki to Cortland

- Midfielder Gunnar Miller will be attending the United State Military Academy at West Point after his senior year at Irondequoit. An All-Tournament team pick last spring, Miller recorded 10g-5a in his junior year and was a member of the Brine All-American Lacrosse National Classic Championship team and the Nike Upstate Rising Senior team last summer.

Cortland has picked up another recruit as Webster Thomas senior John Zawacki has decided to attend the SUNY school after his senior year. The second team All League attackman scored 34g-24a (58 pts) in his junior year and will enter his last season with the Titans with a 51g-27a (78 pts) carrier record. He also played on the Nike Upstate Rising Senior team last summer.


McQuaid Jesuit has Two Commits

- McQuaid Jesuit has two more players committed to play lacrosse in college. Current senior middie Alex Paroda plans to sign a NLI to play at Mount St. Mary's and junior defenseman LucParoda and Bailey Bailey has made a verbal commitment to play at Ohio State.

Alex Paroda, a midfielder for the Knights who scored 12g-4a in his junior year, has committed to play at Mount Saint Mary's University (Emmitsburg, Maryland). The Division 1 school, coached by Tom Gravante was 9-6 last year and defeated second-seeded Quinnipiac, 14-9, to win the inaugural Northeast Conference Tournament championship. Gravante has close ties to Section Five, having played on four D-3 Championship teams at Hobart (1985-1988).

Junior defenseman, Luc Bailey, made a verbal commitment to play D-1 lacrosse at Ohio State after graduation in 1213. Last summer, Luc played for the Blaze Rising Junior team and the Nike Rising Junior team. In 2010 he was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes U15 National Championship team.


Gino Prestigiacomo Picks Cortland

- Greece Thunder (Athena/Odyssey) senior Gino Prestigiacomo recently announced his decision to continue his lacrosse career at the State University at Cortland next fall. The offensive player who has four year varsity experience, recorded 32g-26a (58 points) last year and has a career record of 82g-63a entering his last year with the Thunder. He has had three years with the Rochester Blaze team during his off-seasons.

Cortland, who won the Division 3 National Championship is 2009 under current Head Coach Steve Beville, was 16-3 last year after a close loss to Tuffs (10-9) in the quarter final round. Prestigiacomo will be joining a large group of Section Five players that include , Greg Wright and Sean Davern from Irondequoit, Mike Warner from Geneva, and from Webster Schroeder, Scott Tota, Mike Blood, Cody Consul.


Penfield Sends Two More to College Teams

- Penfield recently announced the commitments of two seniors who are planning to continue their game next year.Rehm and Condo

Justin Rehm has made his commitment to Siena College after his last year with the Patriots. Siena is a Division 1 (Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) team. Rehm will be playing for John Svec, who was recently selected as the Head Coach after a three year stint as an assistant Coach in charge of defense at Hobart College. The long-stick defensive midfielder was a MC-1 first team player last spring and spent last summer as a Brine All-American Lacrosse National Classic Champion and a member of the Nike Upstate Rising Senior team.

Matt Condon, a rising senior midfielder for the Patriots has selected Mercyhurst College, the 2011 D-2 National Champions and expects to receive academic and athletic awards. Scoring thirty points in his junior year and entering his senior year with a career total of 32g-22a, Condon also played on the Nike Upstate Rising Senior team last summer.


Kitchen and Warren Select VMI

 - Robert Kitchen Jr, a rising senior offensive player with the Greece Lightning (Arc/Oly), has given his verbal commitment to attend the Virginia Military Institute a year from now. In his three years on the varsity team, Kitchen has scored 99 points (68g-31a).

An all-Star at the rising seniors Top 205 camp, Robert also attended the Lake Placid Summit, the Syracuse Shootout and the National Lacrosse Classic last summer. He also participated in the Lake Erie Showcase, UPLax, Elite 150 Outback and the Albany Power Shootout.

Kitchen will be joined at VMI my Irondequoit long stick midfielder, Garrett Warren who, according to Inside Lacrosse, has also given his verbal commitment. According to IL, Warren attended the Syracuse Shootout, the Brine Shootout and the Irondequoit Invitational last summer.


Connor Russell Gives Verbal Commitment to Syracuse

- Penfield rising junior, Connor Russell recently announced his verbal commitment to play for Syracuse University after graduation in 2013.

The Midfielder and face off specialist was a first team Monroe County League (MC-1) and second team All Section team selection in his sophomore year.

Last summer he played on the very successful Nike Rising Juniors team.
