Sunday: The Tournaments are Set

May 24, 2009 - The tournament seeding is done and the brackets are set as the 2009 Section Five tournament starts with out bracket games for Classes A and C on Tuesday.

Fairport takes the top seed in Class A after breaking a tie with Thomas (#2) based on a "head-to-head" win for Fairport (criteria #1). Pittsford is seeded third and Schroeder fourth. Brockport (5th) was tied with Penfield (#6) and won out on the basis of a better overall record (criteria #2). Churchville-Chili is in at #7 and R-H won the third tie-breaker in Class A on the basis of head-to-head wins against Hilton (#9). Spencerport, Thunder, Gates Chili and Lightning fill out the bracket. Fairport, Thomas and Pittsford receive byes in the outbracket.

In Class B, Canandaigua is the top seed with Irondequoit in #2, McQuaid Jesuit in #3 and Brighton in #4. HFL is fifth, Victor sixth, Newark 7th and Eastridge eighth. With only eight teams in the class, their tournament starts on May 28th with the quarter final round.

In Class C, Pen Yan is the first seed with Aquinas second, Livonia third and Geneva fourth. Midlakes is #5, Pal-Mac #6, Haverling #7 and Batavia #8. Waterloo, B-H, Mynderse, ER and Marcus Whitman fill out the bracket. Penn Yan, Aquinas and Livonia get byes in the outbracket.
