Thursday - Central Over ADK 12-3

- In the first game of the second round, Central easily defeated Adirondack 12-3 to remain undefeated at 2-0. Central outscored Adirondack 5-1 in the first and then 5-0 in the fourth. Both teams scored one goal each in the second and third quarters.

CEN-ADKCentral scored the first four goals with John Greeley III, Mike Poppleton, Matt Taylor and Casey Lasda each scoring a goal for Central. Garrett Dollard scored the lone ADK goal with a hard outside shot after receiving a pass from Jared Franze. The final goal of the quarter was scored by Jake Silberlicht as he cut towards the crease and Taylor sent the ball inside to him.

In the second, ADK struck first with an outside shot by Franze (assisted by Dan McKinney). Central`s lone goal came on crease feed from Matt Pratt to a cutting Matt Taylor. In the third, Central scored first with Pratt scoring from a feed from Greeley. ADK`s lone goal was scored by Nunamacher who picked up a loose ground ball and fired it into the back of the net.

CEN-ADKCentral reasserted their dominance by scoring five unanswered goals in the fourth. The first was scored by defenseman Chris Nourse. As in the first Central game, Nourse was a dominant defensive figure. On this play he intercepted the ball on defense and went coast to coast for a long stick goal. Nourse finished both games today with a total of 9 takes (leading all athletes on all teams). He is one of the strongest long-sticks at this year`s Games. Greeley added two more game followed by Varn adding two of his own to finish out the game.

In the cage, James Manchester played the entire game for ADK accruing 7s/12ga. Alex Fiore and Steve CEN-ADKMahle split time for Central. Mahle played the first half with 1s/2ga and Fiore played the second half with 7s/1ga (88%).

Leading the ground balls for Central were Poppleto with six and Tom Grimm with four. Leading for ADK were Anthony Zappone with four and Michael Battaglia and Steve Abba with three each. Josh Martin had two takes for ADK. Nourse led the team with five takes versus ADK.

ADK won the face-off`s with Jack Reilly winning 5/6 with his long stick. Poppleton, of Central, was 6/12 at the draw.

Scoring for Central were Greeley (3g-2a), Taylor (2g-1a), Varn (2g-1a), Lasda (1g-1a), Pratt (1g-1a), Nourse (1g), Poppleton (1g), Silberlicht (1g) and Grimm (1a).

Scoring for Adirondack were Franze (1g-1a), Dollard (1g), Nunamacher (1g) and McKinney (1a).
