Pittsford Day
May 3, 2008 - A full day of lacrosse games took place in Pittsford today, capped off with a last minute win by the Panthers over Gates Chili 11-10. Hilton was a 15-3 winner over Spencerport, Livonia won their game (16-11) over Midlakes, and Pal-Mac was the 12-11 winner over Batavia. Out of area games included JD's win over Geneva (18-7) and Sweet Home over Victor (14-6).
Pittsford 11 - Gates Chili 10
It was Pittsford's annual Lacrosse Festival day, which was at Sutherland High School today and the highlight was the Panther win over visiting Gates Chili in a close 11-10 game. There was a big crowd on hand as the two teams tied 2-2 after the first quarter and tied 4-4 at the half. At the end of three quarters they were still tied (7-7) but the Spartans found themselves ahead 10-9 with two minutes left. Pittsford tied the game and with 40 seconds left in the game Pittsford sophomore midfielder, Tom Rodenhouse scored the winning goal.
Pittsford's festival had action all day long with the two modified teams (Barker Rd vs Calkins Rd) playing against each other and the JV team playing (Gates Chili) earlier in the day. A Chicken BBQ, concessions, silent auction and lots of fun was available all day. Some of the proceeds will go to the Jeffrey Milano-Johnson Memorial Fund.
Scoring for Pittsford were TJ Iuppa (1g-2a), Conor McDermott (1g-4a), Thomas Rodenhouse (2g-1a), Tommy Schmitz (1g), Dillion McLean (1g) and James Purpura (1g). Goalie stats will be available on Sunday. Pittsford improves to 6-3.
Scoring for Gates Chili were Jeff Fichtner (4g), Brad Weber (2g-3a), Tom Sudek (2g-2a), Tom Elkins (2g), Pat Sposato (1a) and Adam Wacenske (1a). Jason Baetzhold recorded 15s/11a for the Spartans (8-2).
Hilton 15 - Spencerport 3
An injury ended the game with Hilton up 15-3 over Spencerport. The game was called off with 8:26 left in the last quarter after Spencerport player, Mike Baldino suffered an injury during a face-off.
Scoring for Hilton were Kyle Youngman (1g), Mike Crumlish (1a), David Smith (5g-3a), Jay Clifford (3g-1a), Blake Trowbridge (1g), Matt Fracassi (1g-3a), Colin Walker (3g-2a) and Jimmy Gaffney (1g1-a). Brad Speer had 4s/3ga (36 mins) and Seth Kohler added 4s/0ga saves (8 mins) for the Cadets (4-6).
Scoring for Spencerport were Justin Putt (1g), Steve Basil (1g) and Kyle Breach (1g). Mike Palvino had 14s/14ga (38 mins) and Tyler Lariviere had 0s/1ga (2.5 Mins) for the Rangers. Mike Baldino was treated and released from the hospital last night.
Livonia 16 - Midlakes 11
Livonia wasted no time and scored six unanswered goals in the first quarter and took a 10-2 score into the halftime break on their way to a 16-11 win over host Midlakes. Midlakes won the third quarter effort (6-3), but both teams added three in the fourth quarter.
Scoring for Livonia were Chris Bausch (2g-3a), Tyler Russell (7g-1a), Mike Donals (2g-2a), Jeff Wester (4g-3a), Matt Girolmo (3a) and Aaron Miller (1g). Justin Becker recorded 14s/11ga for the Bulldogs (7-4).
Scoring for Midlakes were Ben Uveges (1g-3a), Tyler Brooks-Lambert (6g-2a), Conor Hogan (1g-1a), Justin Huntsman (1g) and Nick Newland (2g). Jared Schoonerman had 20s/16ga for the Eagles (4-7).
Jamesville-DeWitt 18 - Geneva 7
"That is a seriously good team, better than last year," was the comment from Geneva Coach LJ Russell after Jamesville-DeWitt, currently ranked #5 in the State Poll beat the visiting Panthers 18-7. Geneva fell behind 5-1 early in the game but came back to 5-4. A series of penalties and great play by JD game them a serious run that was too much for Geneva.
Scoring for Geneva were Kyle Boncaro (4g), Willie Rago (1-1), Tyler Travis (1g), Alex Love (1g). Jim Warner (1a), Jeff Springmeir (1a), and Chris Tapscott (1a). Ross Dinan had 11s/15ga and Kyle Brimm had 2s/3ga for Geneva who drops to 8-3.
Pal-Mac 12 - Batavia 11
Pal-Mac was a 12-11 winner in a back and forth contest at Batavia.
Scoring for Pal-Mac were Pete Maklos (3g-1a), Mike Russell (2g-2a), Steve VanDewalle (4g), Justin Closser (2g-1a) and Mike DeMarr (1g-1a). Tim Doyle produced 19s/11ga for the Raiders (4-6).
Scoring for Batavia were Will Mulcahy (4g), Joe Muoio (4g-3a), Ian Chapman (1g-2a), Chip Chapman (2g-1a) and Taylor Hubbard (1a). Goalie Matt Landfried recorded 16s/12ga. for the Blue Devils (1-7).
Newark 15 - Greece Arc/Oly 2
Newark did indeed beat Greece Arc/Oly 14-2 yesterday at home. After taking a 4-0 lead in the first quarter, Newark added 3 more before the half and led 7-1 at the break. The Reds then scored sevn goals in the third quarter while allowing one by Greece. There was no scoring in the last quarter.
Scoring for Newark were Stephen Johnson (2g-2a), Colin Johnson (5g-1a), Matt Clemons (1g-1a), RJ VanDeMortel (1g), Eric Stivers (4g-1a) and Cody Skinner (1g-2a). Ben Hartman recorded 7s/2ga for the Reds (4-4).
Scoring for The Lighntning were Andrew Jebo (1g) and Brandon Wood (1g). Anthony White had 9s/14ga for Greece.
Hamburg 18 - HFL 5
The Hamburg Bulldogs (Section 6) improved their record to 10-0 by beating Honeoye Falls-Lima by the score of 18 to 5 at Hamburg H.S.
Jerry Feuerstein registered 5 goals and 1 assist. Joe Resetarits picked up 5 goals and 3 assists. Matt Springer and Jon Domres both added 2 goals for the Bulldogs.
Scoring for HFL Cougars was Cade Norris (2g-1a), Matt Leszynski (2g), Mickey Allen (1g), T. O'Leary (1a).

Sweet Home 14 - Victor 6
Sweet Home (Buffalo) took this first quarter (4-1) and each team scored four goals in the second, giving Sweet Home the 8-5 lead at the half. Sweet Home took the third quarter (2-1), but scored four unanswered goals in the fourth quarter for a 14-6 win at home. Sweet Home won the ground ball (41-29), shooting (39-24) and face off (16/23) battles.
Scoring for Sweet Home were Nick Cavalieri (5g), Donnie Daniels (2g-2a), Eric Danheiser (2g-1a), Mike Halter (1g-2a), Taylor Heald (2g), Matt Zon (1g), Jared McHenry (1g) and Eric Galdys (1a). Pat McMahon had 11s/6ga for the Panthers (6-3).
Scoring for Victor were Ethan Payne (4g), Frank Valenti (2g), Alex Rogemoser (1a) and Trevor O'Shea (1a). Kevin Donnelly had 11s/13ga (42 mins) and Steve Basile added 3s/1ga (6 mins)for Victor (5-6).
Brockport 9 - Eastridge 7
Brockport (6-3) had a 5-4 lead at the half and finished with the 9-7 win over Eastridge (3-7).
Scoring for Eastridge were Matt Driffill (2g-1a), Riley Austin (2g-1a), Kevin Mahler (1g-1a), Shane Driffill (1g), Trevor Horne (1g), and Adam Sisson (1a). Eugene Ferrera made 12 big saves to keep the lancers close. No report from Brockport.
