Tuesday - Livonia, Pittsford, CC Win

May 8, 2007 - NIne games were played today. Livonia beat McQuaid Jesuit 11-7, Pittsford was a 12-5 winner over HFL, C-C beat Eastridge 15-8. Other winners included AQ, G-C, Ath/Ody, IHS, R-H and Brockport.
  
 Livonia took immediate command on their way to an 11-7 win over vi sting McQuaid Jesuit. The Bulldogs led 3-1 in the first quarter, 7-3 at the half and 8-6 after three quarters.
  
Scoring for Livonia were Oren Taylor (3g-1a, 13 GB's), Brian Sciera (2g-2a), Chris Bausch (2g-2a), Cameron Ross (2g), Jeff Wester (1g-1a), Tyler Russell (1g), Gaelin Walsh (2a) and Brandon Bruan (1a). Jim Crowell won 15 of 22 face offs for Livonia. Justin Becker recorded 14s/7ga (67%) for Livonia (9-5).
  
Scoring for McQuaid Jesuit were JD Ayer (1g-1a), Mitch Ritchie (1g), Evan Gallina (3g-2a), Dan Sturnick (1g-1a) and TC Carpenter (1a). Junior midfielder Steve Odorczyk scored his first varsity goal. Dan Caufield had 9s/10ga (47%) and Harry Goluses had 4s/1ga (80%) for McQuaid Jesuit (9-6).
    
  Although the game began close (tying at 2-2 and 3-3) Churchville -Chili kicked it into high gear and won 17-8 in a Monroe County cross-over game against Eastridge.
  
The Saints opened the scoring with the first two goals. Senior attackman Ryan Grogan played a part in eight of the first nine goals (scoring 6 and assisting 2) The first two goals for Churchville-Chili were both scored by Grogan (with the assists from Jamie Englert) on feeds inside to the crease. Eastridge fought back and scored the next two goals in rapid succession. The first was on an inside feed as Brandon Moynihan found Matt Driffill alone on the crease. The second occurred as the Saints were called for too-many-men on the field. After a quick whistle the Lancers pushed the ball up and scored on a cross-crease fast-break goal (Kevin Mahler from Alex Austin). The score was then tied 2-2 with 6:55 remaining in the first quarter. Churchville scored next as Grogan ran straight into the defense and forced the ball into the back of the cage. The Lancers came back with a goal of their own as Alex Austin scored off a rebounded save by Sean Kettles. The score was tied yet again with 5:37 remaining and this was a close as it would get as the Saints scored the next eight goals and the Lancers did not score again until 0:25 left in the half.
  
Churchville scored three man-up goals within the eight goal streak. Grogan assisted the fourth Saints goal while the next goal (Rossignolo from Englert) was scored from a downside drive during man-up at 3:34. Grogan scored again (assisted by Doug Hemink) then again (unassisted) to bring the score at the end of the first quarter to 7-3 Saints.
  
Grogan continued his scoring streak, as did the Saints, well into the second quarter. Grogan scored man-up 0:03 seconds after their own penalty was released on a cross crease feed by Rossignolo. The next goal, Grogan's last point of the night, came when Grogan fed Brian Traugott inside for the wide open goal. The last two goals of the Saints streak occurred when Gino Marcello scored in man-up taking on three different Lancer players on his way to the goal. The final goal of the half for Churchville-Chili was with 1:43 remaining as Rossignolo scored (assisted by Englert). Eastridge scored the last goal of the half was scored with only 0:25 remaining as Mahler had a one-on-one take which caused a fast-break finally resulting in Moynihan scoring (assisted by Driffill). The score at the half was 11-4 Saints.
  
The second half was much closer, with Churchville-Chili winning each quarter by one goal (4-3,2-1). Eastridge opened up the scoring only 0:12 seconds into the third with a face-off fast break as Mahler picked up the ground ball, passed to Adam Sisson who fed Moynihan for the goal. Sisson was remarkable at the face-off winning 19/27 (70%) and took all but the last face-off. Sisson won nine himself, six with a wing-man picking up the ball, and four off technical victories. He won eleven of his last twelve face-offs, as well (including eight strait wins). The Saints scored the next two goals as Marcello scored on an open net (broken clear) and Englert scored from a fast-break goal. With 6:50 left the Lancers scored again with their own fast break (Moynihan from Mahler). The Saints scored the next two goals with inside dodges (Hemink then Marcello). Eastridge rounded out the scoring with a top-side drive from Mahler with 1:39 left. The score was 15-7 after three quarters.
  
The fourth quarter saw limited scoring as the first two goals were scored by the Saints in man-up and then man-down play. Englert found the back of the net (assisted by Traugott) then Traugott got one of his own (assisted by Hemink). Eastridge finished out the scoring with a crease-look by Driffill to Austin with 0:56 left.
  
The Saints won the ground ball game winning 46-19. A significant part of the game was in man-up play as the Saints were 5 of 6 (83%) while the Lancers were 0 for 2.
  
In the cage junior Sean Kettles started the game (playing 44 minutes) with 13s/7ga (65%) while sophomore Adam Difulvio finished up the game and allowed the final goal for the Saints (10-2). Junior Eugene Ferrera finished with 15s/17ga (47%) for the Lancers (9-4).
  
Scoring for Churchville-Chili were Grogan (6g-2a), Englert (3g-4a), Marcello (3g), Traugott (2g-1a), Traugott (2g-1a), Rossignolo (2g-1a) and Hemink (1g-2a).
  
Scoring for Eastridge were Moynihan (3g-1a), Austin (2g-1a), Mahler (2g-1a), Driffill (1g-2a) and Sisson (1a).
    
 Aquinas beat Haverling 16-2 in GRALL action at AQ.
  
Scoring for the Little Irish were Nick Berkompas (2g-4a), Austin Gorman (2a), Cameron Corsaro (2g-1a), Marc Brondon (3g-1a), Anthony Bianchi (1g-2a), Casey Vogl (1a), Neil Foley (2g-1a), Mike Gray (1g), Tiege Lawler (1g), Jasen Torres (3g), and Matt Smith (1g-1a). Alan Antinarelli had 4 saves in 1st and 4th quarter and Kraig Heston had 3 saves in the 2nd and 3rd quarter.
  
Brad Feurst had both goals for Haverling. Chris Wolfer had 15s/16ga for Haverling.
    
Gates Chili was a 15-5 winner over the Greece Lightning (Arc/Oly). After postings 5-0 first quarter, the Spartans led 12-0 at the half and 14-2 after three quarters.
  
Scoring for Gates Chili were Tom Sudek (5g-2a), Pat Sposato (4g-2a), Andy Hilton (3g-1a), Jeff Fichtner (2g-2a), Tom Elkins (2a), Brad Weber (2a) and Jim Lynah (1g). Jason Baetzhold recorded 3s/0ga and Mitch Jagazinski had 0s/5ga for the Spartans (8-5). No report from the Lightning.
   
 It was an 11-7 victory for Brockport over Spencerport in MC3 action this afternoon. After a 2-2 tie in the first quarter, Spencerport had a 4-3 at the half, but the Blue Devils came back with five unanswered goals in the third and three more in the fourth quarter for the win.

 Senior attackman Jeremy Fitzgerald had his best game of the season, scoring five goals. Sophomore attackman Nate Wallenhorst added one goal and had a record 6 assists for the Thunder in their 10-3 win over host Batavia.
  
Scoring for Ath/Ody were Jared Bennet (1g-1a), Jeremy Fitzgerald (5g), Nate Wallenhorst (1g-1a), Nick Ryan (3g) and Greg Ryan (1a).Dave Tarana had 6s/3ga (67%), playing most of the game. Nick Bellucco finished the game in goal without facing a shot on cage. The Thunder improves to 4-8.
  
Scoring for Batavia were Will Mulcahy (1g), Joe Muoio (2g-1a) while Andy Cowan and Zach Fay had one assist each. Matt Landfried stopped 25/10ga (71%).
  
 Irondequoit defeated Monroe County cross-over competition Brighton 15-4. Scoring for Irondequoit were Greg Wright (5g-1a), Tyler Kleehammer (3g-3a), Andrew Hart (1g-2a) and with one goal Nick Kane, Mike Wallenhorst, Drew Coholan, Michael Eagan, Dan Utz and Erik Lindquist. No goalie report was received from Irondequoit and no report was received from Brighton.
  
Scoring for Brockport were Adam Nauerth (4g-3a), Justin Klymochko (2g), Tyler Sutphen (1g-1a), Eric Gallert (1g), Jake Burns (1g), Andy Willis (2a), Sean Bittner (2a) while defensemen Kyle Petty and John Pacitto each added one goal. Connor Mykins had 14s/7ga (67%). Brockport advanced to 6-5.
  
Scoring for Spencerport Justin Putt (2g-1a), Jeff Konko (2g-1a), Phil Schmid (1g), Ken Bell (1g), Pat Decker (1a) and Luciano Petrella (1a). Mike Palvino made 13s/11ga (54%) for the Rangers (3-9).
  
Rush-Henrietta scored first on their way to an 11-4 win over visiting Hilton. The first quarter ended with R-H up 2-1. The Royal Comets had a 5-1 half time lead and an 8-2 lead after three quarters.
  
Scoring for Rush-Henrietta were Nate Delone (4g-3a), Ryan Leonard (3g), Colin Cornaire (2g-1a), Matt Moran (1g-2a), Bobby Pattridge (1g) and
Justin Rose (1a). Matt McShea had 15s/3ga (84%) and Josh O'Shea added 1s/1ga (50%) for R-H (7-4).
  
Scoring for Hilton were Kyle Hayward (1g), Matt Davidson (1g), Colin Walker (1g) and James Moss (1g). Aaron Donahey had 18s/11ga (62%) for the Cadets (8-5).
  
 After an 11-2 halftime start Pittsford defeated HFL 12-5. Scoring for Pittsford were Conor McDermott (7g), Steve Vaughan (1g-1a), Chris Kist (2g) and TJ Iuppa (1g). In the cage junior Brendan Green recorded 14s/5ga (74%) for the Panthers (4-4). No report was received from HFL.
