Preseason 2006 - Athena / Odyssey

GREECE ATHENA / ODYSSEY
March 18,2006 - Athena/Odyssey was the only Greece team in 2005 and finished last in the Monroe County -2 League with a 2-12 record having beaten Gates Chili and Eastridge. They ended the season at 3-14 and senior defenseman Cody List was named to the All League list for MC-2.

Seeded 14th in the Class A tournament, the Thunder finished 14th after a loss to Fairport in the first round.

The Thunder lost half its team to graduation as eleven players moved on including defenseman Cody List (Keuka), goalie Orlando Villegas, attackman Joe Hallowell and midfielder Mike Kemp.

Back this year are senior attackman Dave Rodriguez and junior attackman Matt Machucki. Junior midfielders Jeremy Fitzgerald and Nick Kulzer return in key roles. Expect to see junior Dave Tarana in the goal after two years as the starting goalie at JV.

After a couple of years of struggle, the Thunder is due some league wins and Rodriguez and Machucki are good athletes and have paid their dues. Playing in the MC-2 schedule, there are a number of games that will be winnable this year.
