May 18, 2005 - The first game of the 2005 Tournament had been played an it was the #8 seeded Newark over #9 seeded Midlakes by a score of 9-2. The Reds took a 4-0 halftime lead.
  
Scoring for Newark were Dan Mizro with 3g, Kyle Burm with 3g-1a, Jason Johnson with 1g-3a and Greg McBride with 4a. Also scoring were Nate Johnson with 2a, and Alex Quku with 1g-2a. Anthony Cole made 13 saves for the Reds who play Penn Yan at Keuka College at 7:00 on Thursday.
  
Scoring for Midlakes were Jon Briggs with 1g-1a and Chris Ledgerwood with 1g-1a. Dom Valerio made 8 saves for Midlakes who end their first season at 1-17.
