Tuesday: Twelve More Games Played

May 3, 2005 - Most teams in Section Five played games on this cool Tuesday night.
  
Honeoye Falls-Lima got back on the winning track today with at 17-1 league victory over visiting Greece. The Cougars out shot the Thunder 48-7 on their way to the win. Ten different players hit the scorebook for HF-L and 16 of 17 goals were assisted.
  
Scoring for the Cougars were David Uzialko (5g-2a), Mike Cintineo (3g-4a), Jeff Price (2g-3a), Zane Witzel (1g)-2a) and John Cintineo (2g-1a). Also scoring were Andrew Santiago (1g-1a), Cade Norris (2g-1a) and Dusty Mulcahey (1g). Kal Dacthler and Connor Burgasser each added an assist. Senior goalie Will Fargo had 2 saves for HF-L (11-1).
  
Junior attackman Dave Rodriguez scored the goal for Greece with an assist from middie sophomore Jeremy Fitzgerald. Senior goalie Orlando Villegas 14 saves for the Thunder (3-8).
  
Gates Chili took a 5-0 first quarter lead and increased it to 10-2 at the half on their way to a 12-3 win over visiting Spencerport. The Spartan defense led by sophomore Jake Johnson and juniors Ed Vargas and Kevin Bailey was an important part of the win.
  
Scoring for the Spartans were Andy Hilton (6g-2a), Tom Elkins (2g), Andy McEntee (1g-2a), Dave Street (2g-1a), Jim Drabin (1g-1a) and Ricky Tator (1a). Junior middie Chaz Giehl won 12 of 18 face offs and sophomore Goalie Dave Bellaivia had 13 saves for Gate Chili (2-9).
  
Scoring for the Rangers were Kyle Campion, Mike Hicks, and Rob Stojanov
each with one. Tyler Hintz and Jeff Konko had assists. Spencerport moves to 4-7.
  
Penn Yan's challenging out of league schedule has been hard on the win loss report, but the Mustangs won a big game as they defeated Amherst (section 6) by a score of 7-4 at Nazareth College. Penn Yan took a 5-2 half time lead. Both teams failed to score in the third and both teams scored two in the final quarter. With the Mustangs up 7-2, Amherst scored at 2:47 and then again twenty seconds later.
  
Scoring for Penn Yan were Steven Carlson (2g), Dan Mesler (2g) and Dan McGuffie (1g-1a) while Dan Wolfe and Ryan Cook each scored a goal and Brandon Trombley and Jon Van Houten each added an assist. Goalie RJ Wickham recorded 13 saves for the Mustangs (8-4).
  
Amherst, currently ranked number 9 in the NYS poll, is 10-2, having lost only to Penfield and now Penn Yan.
  
Churchville-Chili played their first home game under the lights and won against Eastridge with a score of 11-9. After a close 2-1 first quarter, the Saints scored six goals in the second while holding the Lancers to 1 to enter the half time break ahead 8-2. Eastridge rallied in the third with three goals and pulled within two goals in the last quarter.
  
Senior Brad Burbacki (3g-2a) won 15 of 23 face offs for Churchville-Chili. Sophomores Ben Rossignolo added 3g-1a and Cory Mee added 2g. Devin Jessop and Jaime Englert each added 1g-1a, Brennan Dooling scored 1g and Ryan Grogan added an assist for C-C. Junior goalie Evan Williams had 16 saves for the Saints who advance to 4-6.
  
The Lancers saw an outstanding effort from senior middie Kevin Kimber (5g-1a) and from senior attackman Brian Sutton (1g-4a). Junior middie Sean Sawyer added (1g-1a) while senior attackmen Brody Mapes and Nick Savine each scored one goal. Goalie Mike Matteo made 19 saves for Eastridge (3-8).
     
Brighton was the winner over host Hilton  with a 13-8 score. Brighton went right to work in the first quarter building a 5-1 lead, but Hilton improved after the half.
  
According to the morning paper, Colin Davis had 4g and James Ryan added 2g-5a for Brighton (10-1).
  
Mitch Ritchie scored 6g-1a, Tyler Stiles added 3a, Cory Blackburn scored 2g-1a and Brett Bridges added 2a for Hilton. Sophomore goalie Aaron Donahey had 12 saves for the Cadets (4-6). No report from Brighton.
  
Irondequoit, who is celebrating it's lacrosse history this year, clinched its 49th straight winning season with a 16-6 win over host Rush-Henrietta. (Irondequoit’s overall record is now 665-135.) Taking a 7-2 first quarter lead, the Eagles added two more in the second to enter the half at 9-2.
  
Irondequoit saw scoring from Joe Parker (3g-5a), Derek Pino (4g-1a) and Mickey Haight (4g-1a). Also scoring were Andrew Hart (1g-1a), junior middie Adam Latacki (1g-1a) while Zack Pixley, Corey Bottiglier and Tim Pease each added one goal. Freshman attackman Greg Wright added 3a for Irondequoit. Zach Nash and Curtis Boshnack each made 2 saves as they split the goal tending duties for the Eagles (9-4).
  
Rush-Henrietta saw scoring from Brian McShea (3g-2a) while Justin Rose, Pete Falsone and Sam Hillman each scored one goal and Matt Moran added two assists. The Royal Comets move to 3-8. Score only from Rush-Henrietta.
  
Host Waterloo was the 11-9 winner over Newark under the lights Tuesday night. Scoring for Waterloo were Gordy Lahr (2g-1a), Josh Mateo (1g-1a), Shawn Dunphy (2g) and Dave Everett (1g). Also hitting the scorebook were Matt Kaiser (2a), Winston Boyd (3g-3a), Jason Johnson (1g) and Steve Kuti (1g). Pat DeBolt had 10 saves for the Indians (9-5).
  
Newark saw scoring from Dan Mizro (4g), Jason Johnson (4a), Kyle Burm (2g-2a) and Adam Golding (1g). Anthony Cole made 18 saves for Newark (2-10).
  
Host McQuaid Jesuit won its GRALL game against Haverling with an 11-6 score. The Rubino brothers had a big night for the Knights as Tyler scored 3g-1a and Scott added 4g-1a. Evan Gallina scored 2g while Mark Hanna and Andrew Foster each added a goal and Dan Sturnick added an assist for McQuaid Jesuit (5-8).
  
Haverling was led by Jeremy Sutfin with 2g-2a. Chris Osborne, Ryan Finney, Richie Zajac and McKenzie Durham each added a goal for the Rams (3-9).
  
Webster Schroeder has been on a hot streak lately, but Penfield remained undefeated (11-0) after winning the closely contested game with a 9-5 score. The Warriors led 1-0 at the end of the first quarter, but Penfield came back to take a 4-2 lead at half time.
  
Junior Mike Arvan lead the scoring with 2g-4a and fellow classmate Kelly McKenna added 1g-1a for the Patriots. The remainder of the scoring game from seniors Trevor Rice (3g), Mike Thon (2g), Jason Knerr (1g) and Tim Pfeffer (2a) playing in their last regular season home game. Junior goalie Brian Dell had 10 saves and senior Luke Prattico had 8 ground balls to lead the Penfield defensive effort.

Mike Catalino scored 2 goals and added an assist while winning 11 of 17 faceoffs to lead the offensive for Schroeder. Tom Costanza (1g-1a), Mark Liberti and Grant Catalino each scored 1g for Webster. Dennis Costanza had 15 saves in goal for the Warriors (5-6).
     
It was host Mynderse over Midlakes, 13-3 on Tuesday afternoon. Scoring for Mynderse were Josh Kurdziolek (2g), Andy Zaverella (1g-1a), Tim Sweeting (2g) and Sean McGrimley (1g-4a) Also scoring were Kevin McCully (3g-1a), Chris Warrick (3g-2a) and Tim Ellis (1g-1a). Nick Tiaskkun had 4 saves for the Blue Devils (5-7).
  
Midlakes scoring came from Nate Stevens (2g), Chris Ledgerwood (3a) and Dom Valerio (1g). Junior goalie Brendan Hennessy recorded 8 saves for the first year varsity team from Midlakes (0-11). No report from Midlakes.
  
Aquinas won the GRALL night game match up against host Livonia, 12-9. Aquinas led at the end of the first quarter 4-2, but the Bulldogs scored 5 goals in the second to lead at the half 7-6. The Little Irish came back with 4g in the third while holding Livonia, who spent much of the time in the penalty box, scoreless. Six Aquinas goals came from man up situations.

Leading the Aquinas effort were Dave Schmandt (4g), Pat King (3g-2a) and Chris Rolland (2g-1a). Mark Pincelli added 1g-3a and Vincent scored 2g for Aquinas (9-4).
  
Scoring for Livonia were Scott Mosher (4g), Josh Hendrickson (2g-1a) and John Dalberth, Shawn Wright, and Chad Britton who each scored one goal. Brian Sciera added an assist. Aaron Jamison had 13 saves for Livonia (6-6). No report from Aquinas.
