Friday: Irondequoit over Spencerport
April 22, 2005 - Irondequoit won a 15-5 non-league game against host Spencerport on Friday morning. After taking a 6-0 first quarter and 11-1 half, the Eagles coasted to the win while unloading the bench. Ten different players made the
scorebook.
Leading the scoring for the Eagles were sophomore attackman Andrew Hart (3g-2a), senior middie Cory Bottiglier (3g), junior attackman Joe Parker (2g) and sophomore middie Kevin CoHolan (2g-1a). Senior middie Mark Magro added 1g-2a while Derek Pino, Alastair Farmer, Mark Crean and Nick Kane each added 1g-1a. Senior defenseman Joe Mason added an assist while senior goalies Dylan Crary (3 saves) and Curtis Boschnack (4 saves) split the goal tending duties for Irondequoit (7-3).
Spencerport's goals came from junior midfielder Steve Difulvio (2g) while junior attackman Rob Stojanov, junior middies Mike Hicks and Kyle Campion each added one goal. Sophomore goalie Ryan Konko had 9 saves for the Rangers (4-4).
In action from the final day of the Newark Tournament it was Aquinas over Newark 13-11 for the Championship and Haverling over Midlakes 13-6 in the consolation game at Newark.
Haverling and Newark, played in the consolation game at 5:00. The Rams started out slowly, losing 4-1 early in the second quarter before scoring the next ten goals. Haverling's middies Jeremy Sutfin (3g) and Kyle Benseh controlled the face offs which led to a season high 48 shots on goal. Haverling's scoring was led by Sutfin, Liam Glover (5g-5a) and Ryan Finney (3g). Chris Osborne and Ryan Pomeroy finished the scoring with one goal each. Richie Zajac (3a), Josh Thompson (1a) and McKenzie Durham (1a) contributed to Haverling's offensive output. Jeremiah Wilder secured the win with 7 saves in the cage for Haverling (1-5).
Midlakes saw scores from Glen Steneson (1g-3a) and Chris Ledgewood (1g-3a). Nick Newland and Nate Stevens each added a goal and Kyle LaVane added 2g for Midlakes (0-8). No report for Midlakes.
In the 7:00 Championship game, Aquinas was the winner over host Newark 13-11. The teams were tied at 5 at the half, but Aquinas dominated in the third quarter. Leading the scoring for the Little Irish were junior attackman Chris Roland (3g-5a), junior middie Mark Pincelli (6g) and junior attackman Matt Smith (2g). Sophomore goalie Alan Antinarelli had 10 saves for Aquinas (7-3).
Newark's scoring was led by junior middie Alex Quku (3g-2a), senior middie Kyle Burm and senior attackman Jason Johnson (2g-1a). Newark drops to 2-7. No report from Aquinas.
