Preseason 2005: McQuaid Jesuit, Mid, Myn

- McQuaid Jesuit

McQuaid Jesuit was third in the new GRALL league with a 1-5 league record (5-14 over all under first year McQuaid Jesuit Alumnus, Rob Warren.

The Knights were seeded 8th in the Class A Tournament and lost in a close game to 9th seeded R-H in the out bracket (7-5).

Junior Scott Rubino (att), senior Brandon KcKay (mid), sophomore Alex Caton (def) and senior Chris Ragan (def) each receive first team honors from GRALL.

The Knights graduated eleven seniors in 2004 including Mckay, Ragan (RIT), defenseman John Robinson (Geneseo) and goalie David Yahoodik.

There are seven lacrosse teams in the Section with new Head Coaches and McQuaid Jesuit is one of them as long time Pittsford assistant, Scott Bryson takes over for Rob Warren. Coach Bryson spent many years in the Pittsford program, has served as an Empire State Games coach and has been a USLacrosse “Man of the Year”. He will need to focus on the loss of Yahoodik, Robinson and Ragan as he builds the defense, but junior Alex Caton returns and Coach Bryson has high expectations for Dan Blackburn and Christian Cavanaugh. Junior Pat Maquire is looking for goalie time.

On the offensive end of the field, the Knights should have a good start with seniors Tyler Rubino and Brendon Clar in the attack. At midfield seniors Scott Rubino, Kevin Dacey and Randy Mays return. McQuaid Jesuit is looking for an improvement in last year’s record and have picked some non-GRALL games that will be challenging and yet meaningful.
