Twenty Local Teams Make NYS Scholars List
July 8, 2016 - At the end of each sport season, the NYSPHSAA honors those teams that excel in the classroom. For lacrosse, a team must have at least eleven players who have a 90% average or better during the spring season.
One hundred and eighty-four NYS lacrosse teams were named this spring, with Charles W. Baker HS (Section 3) taking the highest honors this year with a team average of 96.39. Roughly 400 teams play in New York State with about 46% earning the honor. The complete spring list is here.
Haverling took eighth place on the NYS list with an average of 95.26. Nineteen other Section Five teams were award winners (54%). The twenty teams are as follows:
