Players of the Week - Group 2
April 17, 2018 -
In the third week of the season, we honor two Section Five players.
Offensive Player of the Week
Brett Cunningham
Senior attackman Brett Cunningham is starting off his third year on the Varsity with twenty-one goals and thirteen assists points in five games, helping the Blue Panthers to a 5-0 start. A feature player in each of the games, Brett has scored at least four goals in every game. In the 11-10 win over Pal-Mac he recorded 4g-1a.
After he was brought up to the varsity in his sophomore year, he currently stands at 66g-32a.
Head Coach Joe Sidari says: "Brett is a very smart lacrosse player with a great feel for the game. Not only does he put himself and his teammates into scoring positions, but he has made some great heads up plays for us in our transition game allowing us to gain valuable possessions at critical times in our games. I am looking forward to watching Brett, and the rest of our team to continue to grow and develop throughout the season."
Defensive Player of the Week
Caleb Green
Senior goalie Caleb Green is starting his fourth year with the Barons with over four hundred saves in twenty-four hundred minutes in the goal.
After a tough start for Brighton, Green was instrumental in last week`s two big wins: a 13-10 win at Churchville-Chili (55%) and an 8-7 win at home against Hilton (56%).
He has committed to Bowdoin College after graduation this spring.
Head Coach Cory Holbrough says: "He demonstrates the qualities and character embodied in the term “student-athlete” and is continually coming up with big saves at crucial points of games.
Caleb is the all-time minutes leader for Goalie Minutes right now and is about to have the all-time record for saves as well. He has a great voice and is a leader on and off the field for us."
