Aquinas Takes off in Second Half
April 11, 2017 - Aquinas took off in the second half and outscored Nichols 8-4 in the second half on their way to a 13-8 win over the Big Green. In the first three quarters, both teams were back and forth and remained within two goals until the final minute of the third quarter.
Nichols scored the first two goals of the contest with unassisted goals from Nick Ennis and Quinn Rifkin. The Littlie Irish took over and scored five of the next six goals to take a 5-3 lead. All five goals were scored by different athletes (Evan Kelly, Jonathan Parrinello, Sebastian Gimeli, Eli Chalmers, Casey Hochheimer). The final goal of the first half was scored by the Big Green with Erik Urbank scoring the first of his three goals. Aquinas led 5-4 at the half.
Urbank started out the second half with an unassisted goal to tie the game for the third time. Much like earlier in the game, the Little Irish scored five of the next six goals to take a 10-6 lead going into the fourth quarter. Aquinas began increasing their lead in the fourth quarter and extending beyond the two goal buffer that remained in the first three quarters.
