Schroeder Late Goal Gives Win Over HF-L

- Webster Schroeder scored the lone goal of the fourth quarter in order to defeat HF-L 9-8. The Warriors trailed at the start of the second quarter but scored four unanswered goals spanning into the third quarter to keep the game close. During the second half, the teams traded goals four times in a row.

Schroeder opened the scoring with David Laspina assisting Joe Saltrelli. HF-L scored the next four goals to take a 4-1 lead with 6:11 remaining in the half. All four goals were scored by different Cougars: Alex Mapstone, Tim Breau, Ryan Kelly and Dylan Stratton. Mapstone, Breau and Stratton each added an assist during the run. Schroeder turned the quarter around in the final six minutes of the half.

The Warriors scored three goals before the time expired. Mike Trass scored all three goals, with the first assisted by Blake Balcaen. Trass finished with 3g-2a for the Warriors. The score was tied 4-4 going into halftime.

The remaining nine goals were all alternated between the two teams. Schroeder score d both the first and last goals. Balcaen scored the first goal for the Warriors 1:06 into the third quarter and the last goal for the Warriors with 6:41 remaining in regulation. Face off midfielder Zac Cooley finished at 65% for the Warriors (13/20). Cooley also finished with nine ground balls to lead his team. Defensemen Jacob Bogert and Matthew Streit both added six ground balls to the count. In the cage, Willie Klan finished with five saves. HF-L was led in ground balls by Mapstone with five. Defenseman Anthony Garcia finished with three ground balls. In the cage, Bryce Kelly finished with 12 recorded saves.
