Monroe County Releases D-1 Awards for 2014

The All Star list is out recognizing the Monroe County League players for the 2014 season. Senior midfielder Eric Munn (Canandaigua) and defenseman Nick Panara (Pittsford) were named US Lacrosse Academic All Americans. Junior midfielder Kevin Hill (Thomas) along with senior attackmen Trevor Hodgins (Churchville-Chili), Justin Kesselring (Fairport-A/M) and Stephen Quinzi (Pittsford) were selected as US Lacrosse All Americans. NYS: Clean Sweep Tournament

At least as far as the Upstate tournaments were concerned, it was a series of clean sweeps. In the out bracket round it was a clean sweep for Section Three. In the quarter finals Section Five teams swept Section Six and Section Three swept Section 10. In the semi finals it was a swept for Section three over Section Five and in the finals the Section Three teams all lost to Downstate teams. Full Story

The Red Raiders traveled to Cicero-North Syracuse High School in Syracuse for the first of the three Upstate semi finals games today. It has been a long time for the Fayetteville-Manlius Hornets to get this far, having to battle the tough Class A schedule in Section Three. Full Story

JD Ends Victor`s Season

TD Ierlan took the first face off right to the goal, but was unsuccessful and after a quick trip up and back, sophomore defenseman Jack Callahan gave the ball to sophomore attackman Max Lambert for the first goal of the game. Full Story

Finger Lakes Announced 2014 Awards

The All Star list is out recognizing the Finger Lakes players for the 2014 season. Junior attackman, Ben Reeves from Pal-Mac was, for the third year in a row, selected as Finger Lakes "Player of the Year". The "Midfielder of the Year" wasEddie Eddington from Geneva. The "Defenseman of the Year" was Dylan Joy from Gananda and Pal-Mac Head Coach Joe Hill was named Coach of the Year. Matt Morrin was named Assistant Coach of the Year and Tom Palmer from Gananda was named Man of the Year. Eddie Eddington was named a USLacrosse All American and Ben Reeves was named a USLacrosse Academic All American by the Section Five Coaches. Full Story

There are two sites running quarter final games, including the "Western Semifinals" which feature Section Three hosting Section Five at Cicero-North Syracuse High School in Cicero (Syracuse). Fairport Over OP in NYS Quarters

Orchard Park won the first face off and took the ball down field where Fairport goalie Joey Scalise made the first of his twelve saves. After taking the ball up field, senior attackman Ryan Crater scored the first of his three goals in a row as he hit on a fast break pass from Dylan DeLorme. Full Story

Victor Advance with Win Over Hamburg

The second game of the day featured Victor playing Hamburg at All High Stadium in Buffalo. Victor`s Jamie Trimboli scored the first goal of the game with a drive down the left side just a minute and a half into the game. Full Story

Penn Yan Moves to NYS Semis

The Penn Yan Mustangs scored their first three goals in under three minutes at the start of the Class C game against Akron from Section Six. It was a potent of things to come as the powerful Mustangs took the game to running time in their 19-4 victory in Class C. Full Story

2014 All-Section Five List Released

For the fourth time, Section Five selected first and second team All-Section players. The 2014 first team lists sixteen players and includes the ten All-Americans previously announced."It`s always difficult to choose from so many talented players," said Section Five Chairman, Mike Simon. To be nominated each player was required to be selected to their first team all league (except Independent teams). Full Story

The All Tournament Teams for 2014 were announced on Championship Tuesday. MVP for A, B and C were Justin Kesselring (Fairport), Mike DeMarco (Victor) and Rion Davison (Penn Yan). Players were selected on the basis of their performances in the Section Five Tournaments. Full Story

The three top seeds won their trips to Buffalo today as Fairport scored four goals in the last five minutes of the game to defeat Pittsford 7-6. Penn Yan was a 17-5 winner over Pal-Mac and Victor played a close game with Canandaigua, eventually winning 12-8.  Full Story

Victor Wins Championship

After last year`s heart felt triple overtime loss to the Braves, Victor came to play and defeated Canandaigua 12-8. The Braves led for most of the first quarter. The Blue Devils scored the opening goal of the second quarter to take their first lead of the game and never looked back. Full Story

Penn Yan Wins Championship

Penn Yan scored four goals in the first three quarters and five in the final quarter in their 17-5 win over Pal-Mac. The Red Raiders added one goals in the first and two in the second and third quarters. Full Story

Fairport Over Pittsford for Championship

Pittsford`s starting defense played three excellent quarters and one mediocre quarter, but that last quarter was enough for Fairport to come up with a win with 0:16 left in regulation. The Red Raiders scored six goals in the final quarter, including the last five in their 7-6 win over the Panthers. Full Story

Tuesday is Championship Day

The top seeded teams will play tomorrow and it looks like anyone can win in each of the Classes. The Day of Champions, sponsored by Canandaigua National Bank and Trust, will be held at Webster Schroeder High School. This year, the Class B game will be held first, starting at 3:45. Full Story

2014 Section Five All-Americans Announced

The Head Coaches of Section Five met on Sunday afternoon to listen to the presentations of twenty-five players who had been nominated for All-America team honors. The awards,
sponsored by US Lacrosse, identify some of the best players from each area of the country. Full Story

Fairport Beats Thomas in Semis

In a game that was close throughout, Fairport held off the late advances from Webster Thomas to win 8-6. The Red Raider scored half their points in a four goal unanswered set from the first and second quarters. Full Story

Pittsford 9 - Penfield 6

Although the game was tied three times, Pittsford never trailed in their 9-6 win over Penfield. The Panthers took revenge for their regular season loss over Penfield by scoring the opening two goals and never looked back. Junior midfielder Brandon Barker finished with 3g-1a from eight shots to lead the Panthers. Full Story

Victor Advances Past Spencerport

Victor used a dozen players for their offensive book and took an 11-2 lead at halftime to a 19-3 victory then their semi final game with Spencerport. The Blue Devils will play Canandaigua on Tuesday at 3:45 (Webster Schroeder High School). Full Story
