The SportsFive "Stat Crew" offered a clinic for lacrosse statisticians in order to review the impact of the new "NCAA Statisticians' Manual". Sixteen people from a total of seven schools attended the program, held in Pittsford, this morning to study the "new" definitions and to learn how to use data collection forms that were made available by SportsFive. Gates Chili ended their league season first in Monroe County Division III with a 10-0 record (13-3 overall). Seeded eighth in the Class A tournament the Spartans lost to ninth seeded Pittsford in the first round. Full Story

Irondequoit traveled to Section Three tonight to take on West Genesee. In a close game the Wildcats, scoring two goals in the last two minutes of the game, came away with an 8-6 victory. Full Story

Hilton ended their league season third in Monroe County Division II with a 5-5 record (7-9 overall). Seeded twelfth in the Class A tournament the Cadets lost to Webster Thomas in the first round and finished as seeded. After the new league divisional orientation, Hilton has moved to Division I this season. Full Story

Penfield ended their league season first in Monroe County Division I with a 9-1 record (15-1 overall). Seeded third in the Class A tournament the Patriots defeated sixth seeded Schroeder 6-5 in overtime in the quarterfinals, but then lost to second seeded Irondequoit in the semifinals to finish as seeded. Pittsford ended their league season fifth in Monroe County Division I with a 2-8 record (8-8 overall). Seeded ninth in the Class A tournament the Panthers defeated eight seeded Gates Chili in the first round, however lost to Canandaigua in the quarterfinals. This was the second straight year that Pittsford has defeated a higher seed in the first round of Sectionals. Full Story

Rush Henrietta ended their league season sixth in Monroe County Division I with a 0-10 record (3-13 overall). Seeded fourteenth in the Class A tournament the Royal Comets lost to Penfield in the first round and finished as seeded. Full Story

Webster Schroeder ended their league season third in Monroe County Division I with a 6-4 record (8-8 overall). Seeded sixth in the Class A tournament the Warriors lost to third seeded Penfield in the quarterfinals 6-5 in overtime and finished as seeded. The Warriors had a hard fought game, but just couldn't come out on top to defeat the Patriots. Full Story

Churchville-Chili ended their league season second in Monroe County Division II with a 8-2 record (10-6 overall). Seeded tenth in the Class A tournament the Saints lost to Fairport in the first round and finished as seeded. With the new league divisional orientation, the Saints have much more competition in Division II this season, however, they are still focused on their goal of winning the division. Full Story

Eastridge ended their league season fifth in Monroe County Division II with a 2-8 record (4-12 overall). Seeded sixth in the Class B tournament the Lancers defeated third seeded Victor in the quarter finals, however lost to second seeded Aquinas in the semifinals. Full Story

Irondequoit ended their league season second in Monroe County Division I with a 9-1 record (14-2 overall). Seeded second in the Class A tournament, the Eagles lost to Canandaigua in the Section Five Finals and finished as seeded. Full Story

Webster Thomas ended their league season first in Monroe County Division II with a 10-0 record (12-4 overall). Seeded fifth in the Class A tournament the Titans defeated fourth seeded McQuaid Jesuit in the quarter finals but lost to first seed Canandaigua in the semifinal in a close game (10-9) which was one of the best games of lacrosse in the tournament last season. Victor ended their league season fourth in Finger Lakes Division I with a 0-6 record (7-11 overall). Seeded third in the Class B tournament, the Blue Devils lost to sixth seeded Eastridge in the first round. Victor moves this season from Finger Lakes to Monroe County, and joins Division II.  Full Story

Batavia ended their league season fifth in Monroe County Division III with a 2-8 record (2-14 overall). Seeded ninth in the Class C tournament the Blue Devils defeated 8th seeded Pal-Mac in the first round but lost to Penn Yan in the quarter finals and finished in eighth place. Full Story

Brighton ended their league season sixth in Monroe County Division II with a 0-10 record (0-16 overall). Seeded seventh in the Class B tournament the Barons lost to Aquinas in the first round and finished as seeded. After the new league divisional orientation, Brighton has moved from Monroe County Division II to Division III. Full Story

Brockport ended their league season tied for second in Monroe County Division III with a 7-3 record (9-7 overall). Seeded eleventh in the Class A tournament the Blue Devils lost to Webster Schroeder in the first round and finished as seeded. Full Story

Canandaigua ended their league season first in Finger Lakes Division I with a 6-0 record (18-0 overall). Seeded first in the Class A tournament, the Braves defeated Irondequoit 18-5 to become the Section Five Class A Champions. Full Story

Geneva ended their league season second in Finger Lakes Division I with a 3-3 record (14-4 overall). Seeded first in the Class B tournament, the Panthers defeated Aquinas 14-13 to become the Section Five Class B Champions. Newark ended their league season second in Finger Lakes Division II with a 6-4 record (7-11 overall). Seeded fifth in the Class B tournament the Reds lost to HFL in the first round and finished as seeded. Penn Yan ended their league season third in Finger Lakes Division I with a 3-3 record (10-7 overall). Seeded first in the Class C tournament, the Mustangs defeated Livonia 17-5 to become the Section Five Class C Champions. The Mustangs lost to Corning East (Section 4) in the second round of the state tournament 9-5. It was the eleventh consecutive Sectional title for Penn Yan. Full Story

Aquinas ended their league season second in GRALL with a 4-3 record (13-5 overall). Seeded second in the Class B tournament the Fighting Irish lost to Geneva in the Section Five finals 13-12 and finished as seeded. Aquinas led by three goals with 1:37 remaining but Geneva scored four goals in the last 1:16, with the winning goal at 0:08, to defeat the Little Irish. Full Story

McQuaid Jesuit ended their league season first in GRALL with a 6-1 record (14-4 overall). Seeded fourth in the Class A tournament, the Knights lost to fifth seeded Webster Thomas in the second round. A scholarship fund has been established in the memory of Jeff Milano-Johnson, the 14 year old varsity lacrosse high school freshman who died while practicing for a lacrosse game in 2007. Full Story

Both Penn Yan and Canandaigua were able to unload their benches as the Mustangs beat visiting McQuaid Jesuit (18-7) and Canandaigua beat Waterloo 21-1 in Wednesday action. Full Story

There were ten games in Section Five today. Livonia had an exciting win over Geneva, HFL won their game in OT, Irondequoit won their fifth game of the season with a win over Churchville-Chili and Pittsford beat Schroeder 9-5. Full Story

Canandaigua traveled to Corning today to face Section IV powerhouse, Corning East. After a 3-1 half, the Trojans won 9-6 in a game that could be replayed in the post-season. Bloomfield-Honeoye was a 8-4 victory over Marcus Whitman in the other Friday game. Full Story

In a game that was close right to the end, Penn Yan won a 6-5 victory over visiting Fairport. McQuaid Jesuit beat visiting Loyola Academy (IL), 12-5. Schroeder was a 10-5 winner over Geneva. Other winners include HFL, Brighton, Pal-Mac, Binghamton (over Penfield 13-12) and Aquinas. Full Story

With warm but rainy weather, three non-league games were held today as Aquinas, Pittsford and Haverling won their opening day games. Full Story

Corning West won an 8-7 overtime victory over visiting Geneva and McQuaid Jesuit won a 6-5 victory over visiting Frontier in action tonight. Full Story

There were eleven games on an unusually beautiful March game day. Pittsford won a 6-5 game against Churchville-Chili, and Irondequoit won an 11-6 victory over Penfield, but the rest of the games were lopsided victories and six went into running time. Full Story

With a major change in the NYS Class alignments, Canandaigua and Irondequoit move to Class B, making that class much more challenging, while maintaining that exciting rivalry. Geneva and Aquinas, who have, in the past, elected to move up from Class C, now like the idea of taking on Penn Yan instead of CA and IQ. Full Story

There were six games games on Tuesday. Brighton, who did not win a game in 2008, is now 2-0 after their 9-5 win over visiting Eastridge. Marcus Whitman, playing their first Varsity game in school history, was leading 6-2 before the Greece Lightning came back and won 8-6. Full Story
