Saturday: Clean Sweep for Section V
June 3, 2023 - DAY IN REVIEW: SATURDAY - UPDATED - All four Section V teams won their Western Regional games today at St. John Fisher University in Pittsford. Pittsford and Victor took their games to running time early in the second half, while both Penn Yan and HFL took time before taking control.
LANCASTER-4 vs PITTSFORD-13 in a NYS Quarterfinal game - Pittsford held Lancaster scoreless in the first three quarters while scoring ten goals in the first half. Leading the scoring for Pittsford (18-2) were Jackson Green (3g-1a), Luke Fliss (3g-1a), Ian Erskine (3g), and Rex Kesselring (1g-1a). Facing off for Pittsford was freshman Peter Roussell with 10+/0- = 100%, and junior Zachary Bennett with 4+/0- = 100%. Roussell reached his 100th faceoff wins in the game. The Panthers will now advance to the semi-finals at SUNY Cortland on Wednesday where they will play Baldwinsville at 3:00. There was no information available for Lancaster (11-6) at post-time. ORCHARD PARK-2 at VICTOR-17 in a NYS Quarterfinal game - The Blue Devils advanced their winning streak to seven wins as nine different players scored including sophomore defenseman Simon Kowal who scored his first Varsity goal in the game. Also scoring for Victor (18-2) were Jack Herendeen (5g-1a), Thomas Gravino (2g-3a), and Sam Gotham (2g-2a). Facing off for Victor was senior Sam Ricci with 13+/3- = 81%, and sophomore JT Ricci with 4+/3- = 57%. In the goal for Victor was senior Brady Robinson with 3s/1ga = 75% (36 mins). Victor moves on to play West Genesee on Wednesday at Tompkins Cortland Community College at 5:30.

EAST AURORA-4 at PENN YAN-8 in a NYS Quarterfinal game - The game was close in the first half with each team scoring two goals but after the break the Mustangs took a 4-1 third quarter to help take the win. Scoring for Penn Yan (13-7) were Carter Earl (2g-2a), Braden Fingar (3g), Tukker Fisher (1g), Bryant VanHousen (2a), and Caden Dixon (2g). In the goal for Penn Yan was sophomore Will Thompson with 9s/4ga = 69% (48 mins). Next up for the Mustangs is Marcellus at Tompkins Cortland Community College at 3:00. LAKE SHORE-7 at HFL-11 in a NYS Quarterfinal game -UPDATED - There were four ties in the beginning of this game before Quinn Kailbourne scored with an assists from Patrick Donahoe in the third quarter to put the Cougars ahead for the last time. In the last quarter, HFL scored four in a row to put the game out of reach for Lake Shore.
Leading the scoring for HFL (15-4) were Chase Perryman (3g-2a), Grady Goodberlet (3g), Braydn Trybuskiewicz (2g-1a), and Quinn Kailbourne (2g). Facing off for HFL was Drew Angelo with 17+/4- = 81%.
