Friday: Wayne over Pal-Mac
May 26, 2023 - DAY IN REVIEW: FRIDAY - In the Class A semi-finals, the top two seeds advanced to the championship round as Pittsford beat Hilton and McQuaid Jesuit defeated Penfield. In the Class C tournament, top-seeded HFL won their game with Geneva and #4 Wayne beat second seeded Pal-Mac 12-5.
GENEVA-6 at HFL-8 in a Sect V Semifinal game - This was a close game with the Panthers in it to the end. HFL took a 3-2 lead in the first quarter and led at the half 6-4. After the break the Cougars scored two more in the third while Geneva scored one goal in each quarter. Early in the game there were three ties, the last of which at 3-3 was followed by a goal by Braydn Trybuskiewicz (2g-3a) who gave the Cougars the lead for the last time with 5:17 left in the first half. Scoring for HFL (13-4) were senior attackman Braydn Trybuskiewicz (2g-3a), 8th grade attackman Grady Goodberlet (3g), junior attackman Chase Perryman (2g-1a), and sophomore midfielder Mathew Brassie (1a). HILTON-5 at PITTSFORD-12 in a Sect V Semifinal game - The Panthers extended their winning streak to seven wins as they held the Cadets scoreless until the fourth quarter while scoring nine unanswered goals in the first three quarters. Leading the scoring for Pittsford (16-2) were Ian Erskine (3g-2a), Jackson Green (3g), Ben Steingass (2g-1a), Luke Fliss (1g-2a), and Rex Kesselring (1g-1a).

WAYNE-12 at PAL-MAC-5 in a Sect V Semifinal game - Wayne extended their winning streak to 12 wins with this game that started out with a 1-1 first quarter. The Eagles scored three unanswered goals in the second and led 4-1 at the half. Outscoring the Red Raiders 8-4 in the second, Wayne won their place in the Class C finals where they will face top seeded HFL. Leading the scoring for Wayne (14-4) were Mason Michel (3g-2a), Nate Michel (3g-1a), and PJ Ostrowski (2g-1a). In the goal for Wayne was senior Dylan Coene with 10s/5ga = 67% (48 mins).
Scoring for Pal-Mac (13-4) were Keagan Hoesterey (1g-1a), Devon McKoy (2g), Robert Kinslow (1g), Mike Halsey (1g), and Dylan LaBerge (1a). PENFIELD-6 at MCQUAID JESUIT-10 in a Sect V Semifinal game - Head Coach Justin Ross won his twenty-fifth game at McQuaid in this game that had three ties until the Knights scored four straight goals in the third quarter. Leading the scoring for McQuaid Jesuit (13-3) were Henry Coke (3g), AJ Quagrello (2g), and Vincenzo Giangreco (1g). In the goal for McQuaid Jesuit was junior Will Gordon with 9s/6ga = 60% (48 mins).
