Saturday - Fourteen Games

- Saturday: DAY IN REVIEW: It was a busy day with fourteen games played today. Most were mismatches, but there were three closer ones.

AQUINAS 10 - RUSH-HENRIETTA 19 - Aquinas went right to work taking a 3-0 lead in the first quarter, but the Royal comets took off in the second with nine goals and then ten more in the second half for the win on the road. Seniors Killian Ceci and Chase Petschke and sophomore Cody Coleman each scored 4g-1a for R-H (2-0). Junior faceoff specialist Mike Valent won 25 or 29. MYNDERSE 5 - HAVERLING 18 - The Rams had a 13-4 lead at halftime. Senior attackman Jamie O`Neil had 8g-5a and goalie Dyllan Becker made 6s (55%) for Haverling in their first win this season. Sophomore middie Dylan Tandle led the Blue Devil offense with 3g-1a in their season opener.  [BOX SCORE] 

WATERLOO 15 - BATAVIA-NOTRE DAME 5 - Waterloo bumped their record to 2-0 with a win over visiting Batavia-Notre Dame. Senior midfielder Peter Shangra had 6g and Scott Verdehem added 3g-2a for Waterloo. Junior goalie Raymond Jones started in the cage for the Blue Devils and made 5s (56%) in three quarters while freshman backup Bergren Aunkst-Park finished up with 5s (83%). For Batavia-Notre Dame, sophomore goalie Jaxson Tucker was credited with 21s (58%) while Nicholas Grover and Noah Burke each scored 2g-1a. NEWARK 4 - WAYNE 16 - The first quarter was close with Wayne up 3-2, but then the Eagles took off, scoring six unanswered goals before the half and then outscoring the Reds 7-2 in the second half. Nine different players made the offensive book for Wayne. Leading the list was Noah Means (3g-2a) and Kaleb Glessing (1g-4a). Preston Steve led Newark with 3g-1a. [BOX SCORE] 

CHURCHVILLE-CHILI  17 - WILLIAMSVILLE NORTH 3 - The Saints took a 7-1 halftime lead and added ten more in the second half.  Senior goalie Chris TerHaar recorded 8s (73%) while eight different players made the offensive book with Colin Duncan leading the scoring with 6g for the Saints. There were no stats available for Williamsville North. [BOX SCORE] 

THOMAS 18 - CLARENCE 2 - Webster Thomas scored thirteen unanswered goals in the first half and finished with five more in their win over visiting Clarence (Section VI). Nine different players made the book for the Titans. Evan Pashalidis led the team with 3g-3a.  [BOX SCORE] 

WATKINS GLEN 0 - MARCUS WHITMAN 19 - With only one save, junior goaltender Blake Dunton earned a rare lacrosse shutout, while nine teammates made the offensive book for the Wildcats. Junior midfielder Connor Gorton led the offense with 5g-3a. Jared Lee, Teague Gallogly and Reiner Gallogly each scored first varsity goals.  [BOX SCORE] 

HF-L 8 - SCHROEDER 10 - In a very close game HF-L had a 4-3 lead after the first quarter and a 4-3 lead at the half, but the Warriors came out strong in the third quarter with three unanswered goals and led 6-3 going into a wild finish. The teams traded goals, but the Cougars scored two man-up goals in the last minute of the game before running out of time.  Schroeder goalie Casey Berns recorded 10s (63%) and leading the scoring was Nick Hauman (3g-1a) and Nate Schilling (4g). SPENCERPORT 15 - EAST AURORA 2 - Section V picked up another out-of-section win as the Rangers scored thirteen unanswered goals in the first three quarters. Eight players made the book with Justin Schnauber recording 3g-3a and Anthony Rodriguez adding 2g-3a. Cameron Mesh won eleven of twelve draws for Spencerport in their season opener. There was no information available for East Aurora (Section VI).   [BOX SCORE] 

WEST SENECA EAST 2 - PENFIELD 15 - Penfield traveled west for their out-of-section win. Alec Constable had 2g-8a and Ethan Aust added 5g for the Patriots who had nine players make the book. Sophomore faceoff specialist Adam Schembri won eleven of thirteen draws for the Pats in the season opener. There was no information available for West Seneca East.   [BOX SCORE] 

MCQUAID JESUIT 11 - ST. FRANCIS 4 - Four players scored for McQuaid Jesuit. Vincenzo Giangreco (4g) and Paul Chiariello (3g-1a) led the scoring for the Knight (2-0). There was no information available for St Francis.   [BOX SCORE] 

MEDINA 8 - BROCKPORT 5 - Medina (Section VI) scored four unanswered goals in the first half on their way to a 8-5 win over the visiting Blue Devils whose goaltender Danny Kucmerowski had 11s (58%). Steven Miller had 3g to lead Brockport in their season opener. No information was available for Medina.   [BOX SCORE] 

HAMBURG 7 - BRIGHTON 5 - Senior A/M Bryan Collins had 4g-1a and Carson Kummer added 2g-1a as the Bulldogs broke a 4-4 tie with four unanswered goals over visiting Brighton. Liam McGuire led the Brighton offense with 2g-2a while goaltender Thomas D`Angelo posted 8s (53%) for the Bruins in their season opener.   [BOX SCORE] 

CANANDAIGUA 10 - GENEVA 2 -After a 2-0 first quarter the Braves added five more goals for a 6-1 halftime lead. Senior goalie Jack Faiola posted 6s (75%) while Drew Williamee and Jaxon Grant both scored 3g-2a for Canandaigua. For Geneva senior attackman Curtis Denison led the scoring with 2g.
