Pal-Mac Over Whitman - HF-L Over Geneva

- Friday: DAY IN REVIEW: The Class C and D semifinals have been played and the Championship matchup are set. Pal-Mac (#4) took out Marcus Whitman (#2) and Honeoye Falls-Lima (#3) took out Geneva (#2), but the top seeds won their games. Penn Yan (#1) defeated Haverling (#4) and Livonia-Avon (#1) defeated Wayne (#4). On Monday it will be Pal-Mac at Penn Yan and HF-L at Livonia-Avon for the brick.

Pal-Mac at Marcus WhitmanAfter a series of runs in the first half, Pal-Mac took a 10-5 lead into the break. In the third quarter Marcus Whitman came back with two unanswered goals and then after the Red Raiders scored one, the Wildcats scored two goals including one at 0:44, but ran out of time as Pal-Mac punched their Championship ticket with an 11-9 win at FLCC. In the other Class D games Penn Yan (15-1) scored nine goals in the first half and five more in the second to defeated Haverling 14-7 this afternoon. Ayden Mowry scored 4g-4a, Max Brodmann scored 4g-1a and Devon Gerhardt added 2g-2a for the Mustangs. Griffin Emerson made 9s/7ga (56%). Junior attackman Jamie O`Neil had 4g to add to his stellar season with 67g-60a and Hunter Cupp won 20/24 draws for the Rams. [BOX SCORE]

HFL at GenevaHoneoye Falls-Lima (#3) had just enough time to win their game with Geneva (#2) tonight in a game that could not have been better. After a 1-1 first quarter, The Cougars broke the tie at 8:00 when freshman attackman Chase Perryman charged from behind the cage and tossed a one-handed shovel shot into the goal. Less than thirty seconds later the game was tied at 2-2 with a leaping shot by Mike Guinan. Five minutes later, the Cougars went ahead again after the ball was bouncing around the goal, Braydn Trybuskiewicz, another Cougar freshman scooped up the ball and made the goal. Less than a minute later the Panthers tied the game at 3-3 on a beautiful cross-crease pass from Aiden Eighmey to Mike Guinan. The teams were tied at 3-3 at the half.

At the 6:45 mark in the third quarter, Geneva scored the go-ahead goal when Nate Askin dodge his man on the wing, but one minute later HF-L senior middie Hayden Price dodged one from up top and bounced the ball over the shoulder of Panther goalie Garrett Kayser. The teams were tied again at the end of the third quarter.

HFL at GenevaThe last quarter started with play up and down the field as the defensive units from both teams intercepted passes and picked up ground balls for full field breaks. Both goalies made big-time saves throughout the game, but they were most noted as the pressure increased, and time grew short.

The game ending started with 1:18 on the clock. Colt Green scored from top right in man-up to put HF-L ahead again. With less than a minute left, HF-L got the ball and called a time-out. They immediately lost the ball, and Geneva called a time-out. With 0:29 left in the game Geneva tied the game when Eighmey took an outside bounce shot past Trevor Reese to tie the game at 5-5. With 0:13 left Green scored to put the Cougars up 6-5. Geneva won the face off and took a last second shot that was just over the top of the goal. Garrett Kayser made 13s/6ga (68%) for Geneva and Trevor Reese had 6s/5ga (55%) for HF-L. [BOX SCORE] More images are available in the gallery.

Livonia-Avon had a 5-1 first quarter lead and a 10-4 lead at the half before earning their championship ticket with a 15-8 win over #4 seeded Wayne tonight. Sophomore M/A Jackson McEnerney had 4g-2a to add to his season record which now stands at 56g-30a and Justin Skelly scored 3g-2a to lead the Lakers (13-4). Wayne senior Andy Hamel ended his career with the Eagles with 3g-1a today and 102g-23a in total. Sophomore A/M Nate Michel added 2g-2a for Wayne and senior goalie Jack Acker had a 50% day with 15 saves. [BOX SCORE]
