Many Exciting Games Played on Thursday

- Thursday: DAY IN REVIEWUpdated: It was a big day, with fifteen games and many exciting matchups and when they games were all played, there were five one-goal games and a number of surprising finishes including Brighton at Victor, where they Barons won a 12-8 victory. Brockport was a 9-8 winner over Gates Chili, Greece was a 7-6 Ohiowinner over Spencerport, Rush-Henrietta was a 6-5 winner over HF-L, Pittsford was an 11-10 winner over Irondequoit and Schroeder was an 8-7 winner over Penfield. Hilton beat Thomas 9-3. It was only the second time the Cadets (7-2) have won against the Titans.

Midlakes at WayneSchroeder improved to 5-4 with an overtime win against Penfield 8-7. Nick Hauman scored the winning overtime goal for Schroeder. This is the second game of the season where the Patriots have lost in overtime. Schroeder came to dominate the first half before Penfield began a comeback in third quarter. STORY CONTINUES

Fairport took an early lead and then held off Canandaigua to defeat the Braves 9-6. The Red Raiders scored the final two goals in the last minute with empty net goals after the Braves pulled their goalie in an attempt to get the ball back. Klay Stuver (who scored both empty net goals) led his team with 4g-1a. Goalie Tim Defendis finished with 11s/6ga (65%) for the Red Raiders. STORY CONTINUES

Haverling at Penn YanGreece Storm and Spencerport played a back and forth contest with the Storm scoring the game winner with 5:08 left in game. Only once (midway through the first quarter) was the game more than one goal apart. STORY CONTINUES

Brockport scored the last four goals of the game, including the game winner in overtime in their 9-8 win over Gates Chili. Matt Heyden scored his fourth of the game only 0:10 into the first overtime period. Gates-Chili scored early and took strong leads in both the first and third quarters but could not hold off the late push by the Blue Devils. STORY CONTINUES

Geneva had a 10-6 victory at home over Pal-Mac behind Nick Askin (3g-1a) and Curtis Denison (3g-2a) who led the list of five on the offensive book. Both teams had excellent defensive efforts, and Geneva goalie Brandon Wayne (17s 74%) made key stops throughout the game. Bennett Medyn led the Pal-Mac offense with 3g. The Raiders will play Wayne on Saturday, while Geneva will play Waterloo.

Pal-Mac at GenevaIrondequoit scored the first five (unanswered) goals in the game, but Pittsford scored four big goals in the last quarter for their first lead of the game and the 11-10 win at Irondequoit. Sophomore attackman Danny Judge scored the first two goals of his varsity career with the Panthers, including the game winning goal. Brecken Catalano made five saves in the last quarter and finished with eleven. Ryan Dumont led the Panther scoring with 3g. Jack Brennan scored 2g-2a and Yavin Stefano added 3g for Irondequoit who will play Schroeder on Saturday.

Brighton scored five goals in the last quarter to get a 12-8 win at Victor in a late game. Lucas Stanat (4g) scored the last three goals for the Barons (7-2). Casey McDermott added 2g-2a and Alexander Butcher made 11s (58%) in the cage. There was no report from Victor at press-time.

Also winning today were Mynderse, Bloomfield-Honeoye, McQuaid Jesuit, Penn Yan, Eastridge and Wayne.
