Saturday: Thomas Over Hamburg

- DAY IN REVIEW: Webster Thomas played a close one with Hamburg (Section VI). The Titans led 5-3 at the half and the teams traded goals in the second half. Brad Smith and Nick Mabe each had 2g-2a for Thomas. Fairport (11-3) travelled south to beat Corning (12-4) of Section IV with TJ Hendricks (1g-2a) and Jake Bucci (2g-1a) leading the Red Raider offense.

Brighton at IrondequoitThere was lots of scoring as Brighton (8-7) beat Irondequoit (7-7) 20-15 this morning. Richmond bound attackman Brett Randall scored a season high 8g-3a and the McDermotts combined for 8g-3a (Brady with 4g-2a and Casey with 4g-1a). HF-L improved their record to 14-1 behind the offensive efforts for Cornell bound midfielder, Garrett Ruff who posted 7g-2a in the Cougar win over Hilton.

JD senior Joseph Kiesa scored the overtime winning goal on a feed from Casey Platenik to take a win from visiting Victor. The teams were tied in the third quarter at 7-7 and both teams added a single goal in the last quarter. Ryan Archer led the offense with 3g-2a and Bennet Chirco had 11s (58%) in the cage for the Red Rams. Freshman attackman Joey Pezzimenti led the Blue Devils with 3g while Chayse Ierlan made 11 saves (55%).

A first quarter 4-1 advantage was the difference as McQuaid Jesuit defeated Watertown High School (Section III) this afternoon. Jack Billiter had 2g-2a and Tommy Crocker had 3g for the Knights. Hunter Goldstein recorded 8 saves (53%). Wayne and Pal-Mac played a close one this afternoon with the Eagles a one goal winner. Both goalies had noteworthy performances. Evan Hulbutt has 12 save (63%) for Pal-Mac and Jared Laird has 14 saves (70%) for Wayne. Billy Thompson led the offense for Wayne with 1g-3a and Kasey Gallina led the Red Raiders with 3g. Both teams finished their regular season with Wayne 12-4 and Pal-Mac 14-2. They will await the tournament seeding scheduled for next Friday.

Mynderse came back from a 10-5 first half, scoring 6-1 in the third, but it was not enough and Midlakes broke the tie in the last quarter for the win. Leading the offense for Mynderse was Ian Anderson with 1g-6a. Bloomfield-Honeoye had a scoring run of seven unanswered goals in the second and third quarters on the way to their win over Marcus Whitman. Tyler Joslyn (5g) led the offense for the Pride. Seth Benedict led the Wildcats with 4g-1a.

Also winning games were Churchville-Chili, Aquinas, Geneva, Gananda and Livonia.
