Fairport Wins in Overtime 2018-03-27 - Fairport and Hilton played a back and forth game this afternoon. The Red Raiders led through most of the game; however, the Cadets took their first lead of the game with 7:13 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Red Raiders scored the final goal of regulation to send the game into overtime. Forty-five seconds into the first overtime period, Brennan Maloney scored off a feed from Spencer Bell to give the Red Raiders the win.
The game was close through with Fairport holding a two goal lead twice. The majority of the contest was a one goal game with Fairport taking a lead and then Hilton tying. Jordan DePetres led in scoring for the Cadets with 4g-1a. He was a part of the first five Hilton goals of the game. Fairport’s scoring was led by Maloney with 4g including the game winner.
Fairport took their second two goal lead with 3:07 remaining in the third quarter off a goal from Klay Stuver. Hilton responded to pull back within one only 12 seconds later with DePetres’ final goal. The Red Raiders held the one goal lead going into the fourth quarter (6-5). Two minutes later, Zachary Mitrano scored for the Cadets to put them on-top for the first time. The Cadets held the lead for two minutes before Stuver scored his second goal to tie the game at 7-7. The final six minutes of play was back and forth, but neither team could take back the lead.
