Aquinas Holds On For Win 2015-05-20 - NOTES: Aquinas stood on the shoulders of Terrance Richards, Elliot Clemmons and Nick Tschetter to defeat Geneva 7-6. The three combined for all the points and 84% of all shots by the Little Irish. Tschetter (2g-2a) finished with four points with Clemmons (2g-1) and Richards (3g) added three points each.
The Little Irish came out strong scoring three unanswered goals in under four minutes (Tschetter, Richards twice). Geneva scored their first goal thirty seconds later with Alijah Moses assisting Jason Feinberg. Tschetter scored his second with 0:24 remaining in the opening quarter to give the Little Irish a 4-1 lead after 12 minutes. Geneva played a strong catch up game but never tied the score. Feinberg scored back to back goals to open up the second quarter and bring the score to 4-3.
Aquinas scored the next two goals (one to finish the second and one to start the third. The Panthers pushed strong at the end of the game, scoring three of the last four. However, it was not enough. Michael DeVaney, Sam Miller and Ethan Bakogiannis scored for the Panthers. In the cage for Aquinas, Tony Deleo finished with seven saves (54%). Defenseman Tyler Olbrich finished with a team leading 6 ground balls and was 50% at the face off draw (7/14). For the Panthers, Jacob Drennen finished with six saves. |
