Schroeder 7 - Irondequoit 6 in Double Overtime 2014-04-03 - NOTES: Irondequoit dominated the first half of play before Webster Schroeder scored five unanswered goals to take the lead in the fourth quarter. The Eagles\' Andrew Knope scored to send the game into overtime. Mike Trass scored for the Warriors with 2:51 remaining in the second overtime period to defeat Irondequoit for the first time since 2007. Trass scored three goals for Webster.
Irondequoit scored the first goal of the game with an unassisted goal from Trevor Carney. The game remained scoreless for another eleven minutes. In the second quarter, Webster scored man-down to tie the game. Zac Bell scored with an assist from Jack Donnelly. The next four goals, spanning 1:19, were all scored by the Eagles. Knope scored two with John Lombardi and Joshua Merkel scored the other two. The last goal of the half started Schroeder`s scoring streak with an unassisted goal from Joe Saltrelli. Irondequoit led 5-2 at the halftime break.
The rest of the game belonged to the Warriors. They scored three goals in the third and the first goal of the fourth to take the 6-5 lead. The Eagles were held scoreless for over sixteen minutes. The final Eagles goal was scored by Knope, unassisted with 9:40 remaining in regulation when he tied the game.
Both overtime periods had little shooting. The first overtime period had three shots (two by Irondequoit and one by Schroeder), none of which were on cage. The first shot on the cage was the goal by Trass. Schroeder`s Zac Cooley finished 69% at the face off draw. Midfielder David Laspina finished with 8 ground balls to lead the Warriors. |
